I am afraid of being made fun of by my co workers for having medievil supersticious beliefs.
But the Bible says that you should not deny Gods name.
I am reminded of the famous passage from the Book of Derek (from memory, forgive errors please):
"And the Romans cameth looking for the followers of Jesus, and Kevin of Tel Aviv, who was His disciple, said "I knoweth of no man named jesus, not around these parts anyhow. In Gallilee I kneweth of a Jessie, if that beith of any help."
And the Romans did not crucify kevin, although they kicked him in the shins and it hurt mightily.
God was angry, and he said unto Kevin "thou has denied my name. I cannot believe you can hurt me like this, after everything I have done for you guys, sending my son and whatnot. "
And God smote kevin on the head with a golf club. And then God smote kevin again with a polo mallet."
I dont want to be smitten. I know God is sensitive about people playing down their connections with Him.
What should I do?

Best bet, deny everything and buy yourself a good motorcycle helmet (preferably with a full face shield). It may look a little odd to unbelievers, to see a guy walking around everywhere with a motorcycle helmet on, but when God smites you with a half brick from behind the dumpster at the local Quickie Mart for not mentioning him to your friends, you will be glad of the extra protection.

No. If you really are a Christian your co workers will automatically know by the life you live. The Book of Derek is not in the bible unless it is part of the Catholic version. Jesus even taught that when praying go into your closet and to not display your beliefs in order to receive praise from men.
If asked, then by all means say so, but people think you are bragging when you just go around telling everyone you are a Christian. Besides it is not 1969 anymore. It is a popular thing now to claim christian thus the reason so many show do not live by what they claim.

I wouldn't go around telling everyone at work. I'm not a christian, but I don't go telling everyone.
If people ask....I tell them. There is no need to bring religion into the work place, you can talk to people outside of work about religion. The only reason to tell someone would be if they were saying something that offends you, if they know they will most likely try not to offend you again. Also, try not to be offended by every little thing. I notice a lot of Christians are offended by every other thing that some people say, you shouldn't take others that seriously. shoot, you shouldn't even take yourself too seriously. just understand that everyone has different beliefs and values and life takes understanding and compromise.

If you where really new born, you would know what to do at all times. The fact, that you have all these questions are a proof, that you are not so new born, as you say you are. A new born person isn't afraid of anything anymore. And surely not of the reactions from his colleges!!
And you should really not need to read those lines from the bible anymore, because you would know everything yourself!!
Wake-up.....there are only a few really new born people in this world and they are not going to tell anybody about it! Why should they?
They know!!

Very funny! Kevin? Tel Aviv? Book of Derek? None are in the Bible!
I wonder how many people actually read your post...?
If you were truly born again (which I doubt - you're just taking the mickey!) you could talk about Jesus or just live your life that is worthy of your calling!

what you or I believe is largely a private matter. The term born again could be considered a Pejorative term. I think the term is short hand for what is called evangelicalism. Feeling your having to tell others or your Compelled to tell people sound like a guilt trip. Beliefs or faiths are a personal matter first the best place to share them is with like minded people not at work.

You know God is sensitive about that? Do you?
I don't know, I'm Christian (born again doesn't mean a lot in my book, but to each his own) but I think God is not so sensitive about how many people we tell. I think He may be more sensitive to the way we treat others.
Why would you tell your coworkers? As bragging rights? As trying to convert them? That's how it would come out. It would be annoying to most and they would wonder if they should treat you differently or stay away from you. I would be tempted to stay away, since even though I'm Christian, I don't want to be preached at. I also don't want someone of another religion to try to convert me to theirs, although I have respect for anyone's beliefs, so I wouldn't try to do it to them.
Simple really ... ACT Christian, don't shout it. People respect that more.

With such a profound knowledge of scripture, you surely have a duty to share it with others.
For does not the Epistle of Cyril say;
'Smug should be thy countenance, ye who spread the word even unto your workmates, for great shall be their irritation, and excessive their boredom, so that they shalt hoppeth from one foot unto the other, like unto a man that needeth the toilet, especially if thou mastereth the slightly whinny, holier than thou nasal voice that is surely the sign by which the true Evangelist be known.'

Jesus states that if yo deny me than I wil deny you to my father. Second of all is not what you say is how you act. If you love and live for the lord you not going to have to tell anyone anything that will shine through. But if your asked than of course you tell them never deny God or be ashamed of him. or what others will think about you. They don't count.

A born again Christian doesn't, in my experience, need to talk about it constantly in the work place. He need only tell one person and the the news will spread like wildfire. After that they'll all be watching the born again Christian like hawks for any inconsistencies in his witness. And mockery is par for the course. As Jesus said: "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." (John 15:18)
