A girlfriend of mine just said the following phrase: To keep my body fit is something of a knock-down drag-out.

How would you interpret that?

For example, some Christians apply the Presumption of Atheism to the belief that Zeus is God. They don't have any proof Zeus is God, and therefor do not belief.

But when every non-Christian applies the Presumption of Atheism to the belief that Jesus is God (or son of God or whatever) these same Christians don't understand.

I am saying some, and not all Theists, and Christianity is the best example since they are in the majority in America where I live.

But about 100% of Atheists, 100% of Agnostics, and I'd say maybe 10 to 20% of Theists, understand and maybe even relate, to the presumption of atheism.

What is the explanation for the 80%'s uncomfortability and inability to understand when the presumption of atheism is applied to their "faith".

I am engaged and when i met my fiance we were both so inlove with the Lord. But then my fiance started to fall into sexual sin in his own life, looking at porn and such. It hurt so much then but i forgave him. In the end it ended up leading us both into a sexual sin. We had sex before we were married. since then we have got help and sought the lord. But now that I am not in that sin anymore he went back to looking at porn. IT hurts so much. I know that he loves the Lord but i don't know what to do with this! can anyone give me advice?

I became a Christian 3 days ago. I've been praying and reading the Bible. But I feel rotten. I'm not blaming it on God or on becoming a Christian or anything. Just what can I do to feel better?

I am a bit confused, but I just circle African-American on registration forms anyway. Any who, here it is.
My dad is chinese/black (not African-American, actually, we are not sure where the black came from) and Caucasian Scottish (my grandfather was a white land owner from Scotland.
My mother's father was a German Jew, and my mom's mother is Native American/African-American. Everyone thinks that I am Hawaiian or something.

How do you describe that? Afroneseerican? WTF. Oh, my dad is Jamaican, BTW.

Today I came the closest I've ever been to coming out to my mother. And, I just panicked and began changing the subject. My mother is actually my closest friend, but I can't seem to bring myself to reveal to her what I've already embraced in my private life. I know that she's had suspicions about me being gay, and I know that she'd prefer me to be gay than to be bi, which I am (though I lean more to women).

If I told her I'm bi, she'd freak out. If I told her I'm gay, she'd drop down on her knees and, "Thank God!". I know her. Should I just tell her I'm gay because I seem to like women a bit more? I've always fought with my peers that bisexuality is a real orientation, so I know that would be hypocritical of me, but would it really hurt if she thought that I'm only interested in women?

Growing up, and even today, I have always heard these man-jokes about women and their vagina, and how it smells bad, or how it smells like fish.

Not all women smell offensive.

We all have a distinctive scent. Why do men have to make a big deal about it?

1 Timmothy 2:12 it says
I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man; she must be silent.
this verse poped up in theology class and we were to take it out of context tell me some of the ways you can take this out of context.

I see lots of atheists here splitting hairs on single bible-quotes. They take one quote and try to make you see how violent the bible is. And many quotes, if taken out of context, can easily be used to support that claim.

It's kinda silly to do that, I can see that. Even if I do it too from time to time, I agree with the sillyness of it.

But I hope you realise why this happens:

In the old days people supported slavery with a bible in their hands.
Later people supported apartheid with a bible in their hands.
Nowadays people condemn homosexuality with a bible in their hands.
The 14 year old raped pregnant girl is condemned for her desire to get an abortion by people with a bible in their hands.

Those people also use a single bible quote, usually taken out of context, to condemn others. Which is, of course also completely silly.

I'm not saying you personally do that,i'm just asking if you can understand how this causes many people wanting to show the errors in the bible?

I mean..WHAT A SICK BOOK! I had one lyin round my house of my sisters and started readin just to see what the hype was about. I remember lines that said stuff like 'Women should remain silent in church.' and 'Those who work on the sabbath shall be put to death.' and 'Those who do not believe in god shall be stoned.' and 'towns that believe in god should be raided and killed.' and 'god commits commits genocide on an entire population for their ignorance.'...It is not in that exact wording but I guarantee it is in there and the meaning is not changed...I think christians never actually read the bible because it is worded so badly and is so boring but just pretend to and go off what their preacher says. If that is god's word he is 1 sick Flucker! That thing so unbelievably reflects a medieval view of life it isn't funny...after reading I am now assured that I have chosen the right path...WOw....to think people worship that thing *shudders* you christians need help!

Islam a while ago, is it in his capacity as the vicar of christ? Or just as another human being?

Then he was criticized and insulted by some Muslims for the quote, do the Catholics feel insulted too because their vicars of Christ is insulted and criticized by Muslims?
