Yeah ... nicely done markyyy ... now when you find a "yield" ... a symptom of a partially openmind (for example""I understand the anger- some give 'Christians a bad name".... and then- lol "but every Biblical word is infallible") ... what then?
Actually ... I believe what then? can have a variety of answers ... but it stirs the noggin to contemplate what breeze to place in the sail next ...
Hopefully one has a destination planned for a consensus ... and one that is not "a plan for pure selfaggrandisement" as some obviously pursue ... Politicians, laity, and even "free speech advocates" can share that flaw ... The Emperor's new clothes of Aesop ... Jim Jones, David Koresch and Al Gore to name a few... hee hee

The Bible is not the reason people do these terrible things, and challenging the Bible won't change them. Just over 60 years ago, people were doing worse things with the Nazi flag or Imperial Japan flag in their hands. Terrible things were done by people with the USSR symbol in their hands. Muslim extremists have a Quran in their hands. The wars and genocides of Africa are being waged by people who have probably never even held a Bible in their hands.
The point is, terrible people do terrible things, and will stand behind religion, nationalism, racism, or any of a host of things to justify their actions. Do you really think people like this care about 'errors' in the Bible or any part of their beliefs?
Use a little common sense. There of plenty of Bible believing people who don't support the stupid things people do in the name of God. Good people are not going to change their beliefs because of the misuse of the Bible by bad people.

You won't make us understand cuz there are no errors in the Bible. It's not silly to do that, why should we Christians shut up and not stand for what we believe it's right? Personally, I'm not one of those that goes around condemning stuff cuz I believe that I don't have the right to do so, it's God's duty to make justice and not mine, and that's why sometimes I get so pissed when I see somebody, for example, holding a sign saying "God hates fags!" Who the f.u.c.k. do you think you are to say that things? God doesn't hate! If you're a Christian as you say you are you should know that in the first place. And what about free will? God's given us free will, do you think you're better than God and that somehow it's right that you don't let people do the things they want? People know what's the things they gotta do if they don't wanna go to hell, it's up to them to do them! We can't force them into the right way, it's all up to them and we don't have any right or power to do so. So I really, and very humbly ask to all of you that despise Christians, please don't generalize, most of us don't use God's word to do evil stuff, we're just regular people like all of you! We don't go around delivering a message of hatred and bigotry, we just wanna be better persons ourselves, and wish that everyone else was, but we can't do anything about it and we don't go around criticizing and attacking people, so please stop hostility toward Christians.

Sure. The Bible is said to be a two-edged sword. I believe that sword is like a surgeon's scalpel.
In the hands of a conscientious surgeon, the scalpel saves lives. In the hands of a madman, the scalpel is a lethal weapon (no association with the movies).
God's word is meant to heal. Not that healing is always a pleasant process. Triple by-pass is not a walk in the park. From what I hear, it hurts. But if it saves your life, it's worth it.
It isn't mean to crush people, but to save them. It's not always a pleasant process, but it's a healthy one.
Still, the sword of God in the hands of a madman, is a destructive instrument.

While I agree with the points of view you have posed I gotta say,
I have a small problem with your connecting the Bible to the errors of people who carry them. Religion has always been used as weapon and it's true nature shouldn't be judged by the actions of the ones who carry it.

I completely agree, I always (ok most of the time) look at the whole story in the bible which the verse came from before I say/comeback with something.

I agree with drtyfckr.....you get some nutcases in everything (islam, atheism, judaism...) and not just religions (have you heard about the people mutilating and killing sting rays to avenge Steve Irwin? Thats an example). Sorry, I would type more but my minds kinda in a haze right now and I can't think...and no, I haven't been smokin' the pipe. lol

You are leaving out the role that Christianity and the Bible played in bringing justice to those inhumanities. You are missing the most important parts of those stories.

i consider myself a christian and i'm not angry. and ya know what else?? in the old days, there were people standing against slavery, with a bible in their hands. later, people stood up against apartheid in south africa and racism around the globe with a bible in their hands. some uf us with bibles in our hands still aren't down with the homosexuality, I'm not gonna pretend. i think the problem is the people who are the most vocal about their religion are the crazies. the bible tells us to spread the word, but i don't think that means go bug people at their houses, there is a time and a place for everything. anyways, gotta go read my bible.

Bible is a collection of stories, recollections of events, apparent testemonies of events of supernatural origin. Stories over two thousand years old, written, re-written,translated to and from languages. No story is the same when it is re-written, re-told, or translated.
Errors are impossible to avoid. Bible is full of errors, and awful things as well as some good. It is written by MEN so it is flawed.
Only a book written by God himself is the way of the God.
