Out of context? The very act of making it a quotation is in itself a taking it from its context and holding it in isolation. This text is extra-pauline and written to a particular community and to a particular language group. If it was not so, why do we not find reference of it in the coptic or the aramaic churches? So it is addressed to a particular community in a specific culture and at a certain time. Communities, norms, cultures and times change over time. Now that you are reading it and isolating it in an English, post-enlightenment world illustrates that it is out of context, apriori, because its readers are not first century Greeks from a hellenised Christian community.
