The Day was established in 1981 by A/RES/36/67 [PDF, 112K] of the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session every September. The General Assembly in 2001 voted unanimously to fix observance of the Day on 21 September as a day of non-violence and ceasefire by A/RES/55/282 [PDF, 91K].

The United Nations works in a wide cross-section of areas to address the root causes of conflict, including in poverty reduction, HIV/AIDS prevention, humanitarian assistance, promotion of human rights, development of international agreements and legal instruments, peace operations, electoral assistance, support for democratization, preventive diplomacy and economic and social development.

I've read that they both don't believe in a higher being or a divine being. Sophists asserted that religion was just a human invention to ensure obedience to tradition and laws.

But I need more info about the differences between two. They seem to be similar.

Have any christians heard that song from years ago called "deck of cards".? What are your views on playing cards. Are they good or are they bad? I play poker so be interested to hear what you think of that. Is it the cards themselves or the gambling that you say is a sin?

I am 55 years old, married with one son, aged 25, employed and living separately.

I wake up at 6 in the morning. At 6:30, I am out with my bicycle for a 45 minutes vigorous ride to the beach and back home. I cover 15 kilometers or 9.30 miles

At 8, I have the second cup of tea of the day and go through two newspapers.

I have my shower at 8:45 and breakfast at 9:00.

I work from home, and I am at my desk at 9:15

At 1:00 I have my lunch and lie down for 30 minutes reading news paper. A short while later, I doze off.

After a half hour siesta, I have my tea and am back at my desk at 3:00 PM.

I work until 6:00 and then I go to a near by swimming pool for an hour of vigorous swim (40 numbers 25 metre laps.)

At 7:30 in the evening, I begin to have my whisky on my bedroom balcony. My wife and I talk about the day’s days events during that time. I also make a few phone calls to my friends.

By 10:00, I have had 240 ml of whisky, I am reasonably tipsy and have my dinner. At 10.30, I am off to sleep. Thanks to the whisky, the moment I put my head on the pillow, I go off to sleep.

(For those of you who may think my alcohol consumption is excessive, I have my LFT – liver function test – done every six months and my liver enzymes (SGOT, SGPT, GGT, etc;) are within normal range. I am not diabetic, my BP is normal, I am not overweight and I am in great physical shape. I eat a very healthy diet consisting of a variety of vegetable and fruits, fish and moderate amount of carbohydrate. I avoid red meat, eat very little chicken and our consumption of cooking oil (fat) is minimal. Alcohol is my only vice, but it makes me happy, relieves my stress and gives me a general feeling of well being. I don’t smoke)

I seldom watch TV.

On Wednesdays, I go to my Rotary Club meeting. After the meeting, I drink with my fellow Rotarians and discuss current evens.

Once a week, I meet my friends – one is a doctor and other is a professor - over drinks again, and come back home in time to go to sleep.

I used to go to my club twice a week, but now I don’t go much because I do not find the conversation there interesting. I find being with my wife more enjoyable.

I do not like travelling.

I have a beautiful home and lovely garden, and gardening is my hobby. It gives me great happiness.

I enjoy good health.

Now, what would you call this sort of lifestyle, boring or interesting?

Thank you for taking the time off to read this long post.

I dont understand why the muslims always say the Islam is peace.. we dont do the war.. ect.. but the reality it's so different.. you cannot understand why a lot of muslims are attacking churches.. and some goverments like turkey( according to many people this country is not very religous) and pakistan..( as well another country is pro western) they condemened to the pope .. so where is the peace? where is the God who is merciful? and as well I dont understand why the muslims kill in the name of God? in some videos where they cut heads they scream Allahu AKbar!! God is great in exodus 20:7 it says u will not take the name of God in vain.. are they respecting the name of God killing in his name?

If something is not 100% proven, then it is not true. Proof? By creating a direct, divine, personal relationship with Our Creator, GOD, we are creating something that is 100% proven. GOD is 100% proven, life is 100% proven, we are a part of life, and that's 100% proof! religion, once again, cannot prove their beliefs, so therefore, they are not spiritual, they are a mind, heart and soul controlling business. Ask Jesus! He would not be associated with ANY religion. He was not when he was alive, and he wouldn't be now, especially the religion(s) that made him a god (hint, hint, catholic, christianity). Look at the job a BORN AGAIN christian is doing, his name is: George W Bush.
GOD will personally hold him responsible for ALL the people killed in Pres Bushs' WAR. but...........
he's a Born Again christian, just like the christian's in the crusades, where christian's killed other christian's just because they did not believe what they believed in, in the name of their god. What a pity.

I recently met a Reverend. We're not dating traditionally because of both of our faiths. Since divorce rates are high and neither one of us believe in divorce except under the circumstances mentioned in the bible, we've decided that a trial "live in" to get to know each other and really understand each other was in order. I believe by doing this, its a chance to see if our marriage can really work. This "live-in" wouldn't be for another 6mos or so, but being that he is a Reverend this has brought some conflict with my family because we aren't even of the same denomination. According to the bi-laws of his church. There's nothing that prohibits it, or in scripture. However, fornication and premarital sex are prohibited. What do you think?

what kind of proofs do you need to believe in god ..
think like this .. we can prove that there is a radioactivity only by a special detector .. we can not prove thaere is a radio wave by weighing it ...
ok ...
GOD is invisible .. and can not be proven by seeing him ..
so what kind of proofs you prefer ..
for example .. messengers are a proof according to me .. because they were not liars .. and everyone supported the prophets before him ..
so if you do not want to take prophets as a proof .. then you must prove that they were liars .. can you prove it ..

I mean don't get me wrong i'm not saying all of them are or even a huge number, but it is in the news alot. What is the reasoning behind that? People tell me it's because they aren't allowed to get married to a woman, but that's a crock, if you are going to fall astray of your promise to god and all, why not do it with a woman...not a little kid...?
