The ancient mystical fathers of the Christian Church often talked about the three parts or powers of the soul - the desiring, the incisive and the intelligent. These do not necessarily mean the same thing as the "heart", which they considered in a spiritual sense to be the organ in which the soul dwells. For this reason, they placed great emphasis on practicing "stillness", in which the mind could descend into the heart, in order to encounter the soul there. The purpose of this was for the person to clearly see the soul's sins and passions, in order to be able to cleanse them through "prayer of the heart" (also known as the "Jesus Prayer").

The heart is an organ that can be seen. The soul is the spirit or entity within. Which can't be seen.

Yea, that is how I see it. The heart of us that is who we are is our soul. I believe that I can feel my soul and it emanates from within me. Much to deep for me! It is illogical, I know. So what!

absolutely no , the heart is the way you react emotionally toward everything around you , when the soul refers more to religious and moral issues.
