I've read that they both don't believe in a higher being or a divine being. Sophists asserted that religion was just a human invention to ensure obedience to tradition and laws.

But I need more info about the differences between two. They seem to be similar.

Hmm! Not sure you have the right word.

A Sophist is someone who takes a simple concept and makes it complicated, in an effort to impress lesser minds. It has nothing to do with religion at all.

An aetheist is someone who doesn't believe in God.

For questions like this I suggest you consult a dictionary, or something like Wikpedia, first.

Sophists mean wise people, and were once a group of philosophy teachers in greece. Atheists aren't teachers but have similar beliefs.

Atheists are sophists, but sophists are not necessarily atheists.
