We have a priest staying with us and he is soooo boring. Nothing but awful protracted silences.

Fr. Ted tried to tell Fr. Jack that theis priest (Fr. Stone) was staying with us and Fr. Jack threw him out the window - thats how boring he is.

Anyway, whats the best way to get rid of a boring priest?

I mean let's take the 10th it says "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, house, donkey, or anything else they own"

Why not just say "Thou shalt not covet anything of your neighbor's"

This is pure theology; I’m not concerned about whether you believe in such things, since I personally don’t believe. I’m basing my question on certain Bible verses, for instance the standard interpretation of John 3:16, and the Christian assertion that Jesus offered a new covenant. What would happen if Satan accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior? Please try to answer the question and not avoid it with statements like “Satan would never do that”, etc.

mine is kind of silly, but here goes. I was at my ex-boyfriend's house hanging out with him and his family (all strong Christians by the way). I got a migraine and couldn't even move. His parents placed their hands on me and said a prayer. At the time I thought it was weird they would do that, but I got this strange sensation and just a couple minutes later it was GONE. I wonder sometimes if it was nothing, or can prayer really work like that?

USA has 2 "official" national languages i.e. English & Spanish while Canada has English & French and Switzerland has German, Italian & French.

Why is it that USA has ONLY English & Spanish, while the early immigrants were from the French speaking, Swedish speaking & German speaking countries ??? Again the same could be said about Canada for having ONLY two languages given "official" status while early immigrants included speakers of other languages, as well.

What's the reason for Switzerland having these 3 languages ???

babies wouldn't the earth become over populated?
Jesus said: The meek would inherit the earth.
He was quoting Psalms 37:9,10,11 So it still should be relevant today

I like so much to go through questions and answers on Y! Answers, and sometimes I post my own questions...but lately the answers are too offensive to go through! Some people accuse and abuse others with their words. Should'nt we all do soemthing about this?

I know, I´m a pain in the neck :) But this is a really easy one (I hope so): When do u use the ending "ly".... for example: "I speak fluent german" or "fluently" ?.....I reckon it´s "fluent" cause "fluently" sounds stupid in that case...another example: "carefully" and "careful"...I just don´t understand the difference...!?When I speak english I always forget to use this ending and I´m sure I´m often wrong,,,

What do you do when you want something so bad, but it's so wrong? What do you do when you regret the choices you've made in the past, and there is not turning back? They say ,"So you've made your bed now sleep in it." It's taking every thing in me to stay in it. I think to myself what would it be like to step out of it just for a little while. Only in my dreams. That will have to be enough, because in reality I never will. Why wont it go away? I try to ignore it, but it only grows stronger. I try to deny it, but it stairs me in the face. It has a grip on my soul, and it's roots run deep. I've tried to set myself free, but it bares down on me like armor on a knight. It's who I am, and I can't change it. No matter how hard I try or how "normal" I pretend to be. I hide it because I'm afraid. Afraid that others may know. Afraid of ridicull and hate. Afraid of hurting the ones who love me. Is it better to live a lie, or to rip out loved one's hearts to live in pure truth. Would that be too selfish? To want to live a happy life.

There being corruption in some of the people of the Church is true. This just proves they are humans that sin. Didn't Peter deny Christ, didn't Thomas doubt, didn't Paul persecute? So, if they had their failings but are considered to have divine authority from Christ why not the priests, bishops, and popes since them? Aren't we to condemn the sin but not the sinner? That is for Christ to do not us. Believe me those people who had such authority and abused it will pay a price for their sins.

Divine authority was passed down from Abraham to Jesus. From Jesus it fell upon the ordained ministers who were chosen and sent by those who received their authority from Christ. The thing that remains pure is the teachings and that is in scripture.
