For me, there are a few ways to approach these questions.
The first is based on reason. As far as life after death goes, we can do a serious examination of the empirical evidence from near death experiences and spontaneous past-life recall. Some skeptics dismiss that evidence without seriously looking at it, but it's actually very persuasive. There are some observable phenomena which are very, very difficult to explain if physical death is the end of human consciousness; for example, "xenoglossy," in which people (children, mostly) who remember previous lives are able to speak languages they have never learned in their present life, and can recount details of their previous life which they could not possibly have acquired in any normal way. The data are there for anyone who wants to look at them.
Then there's an existential argument as well. If death is the end of human consciousness, and the total destroyer of the values of human life, the universe is a fundamentally inimical place. Do we really want to -- in fact, can we -- live with such an assumption? It seems to me that we have a basic choice in making our life stance -- either life and the universe are grounded in a truth of love and beauty, or they're grounded in a truth of loss and darkness. How could the latter be the case? Doesn't our heart tell us it's not so? Shouldn't we listen?
God is the same. Sure, the ideas people have had about God have often been barbaric, evil, and self-contradictory, but that means just that -- people's ideas are flawed and in need of constant revision. To my mind, while there are no absolutely clinching arguments for God's existence, there are arguments which when taken together point so strongly in the direction of God's existence that I can't evade them. And fundamentally the strongest of these are existential arguments -- my experience of the depths of my own being, for example: how could the source of my own being be less than I am? And my love for my wife and my children: how could the source which allowed that love to come into being be less than I am? The world exists, so the world has a source; the highest phenomenon I can observe in this world is the existence of free, loving persons -- how could the source of the world be less than a free, loving, personal Being?
Of course, there is evil; so for me it is a simple matter of saying that this Being is not omnipotent, that it cannot unilaterally override the autonomy of finite beings, who in their limitation and ignorance, frequently choose evil.
Basically, don't give up on God because of doubt. Search and struggle, and craft a vision of God which accords with your own deepest experience and intuition.
And PS -- memory -- where are our memories now? Anyone who says "in our brain" hasn't even realized the depth of the mind-body problem. We can't even say where our memories are now. If they exist now, they will still exist when we are no longer incarnate in a body, IMO.

It seems to me that you are not so strong in your faith. I don't mean to be critical but if you are asking this questions then it means you are skeptical about god and life after that.
It amazing actaully this debate over biological and spiritual realm. Some say that God is made up by some opportunistic seeking people who sort to appeal to those who wanted to easily put thier worries and troubles into the hands of some unknown entity(God). By refering this entity as the higher power it is easy for people to have faith and believe especially in those harder olden times where all seems to be lost in autocracy of mankind.
How true this is, i leave it to you to decide. On the biological front, the near death experience......visions and stuff could actually be caused by your brain. Take for example, near death expereince, it is now said that there is a certain part of the brain that is responsible for such an experience to eleviate the person from pain and have a smooth transition. That is the so called white light that people see before passign away. Now how true is that I don;t know.
So really the answer to your question lies i how much you want to believe in reality & rational thinking and how much on your spiritual beliefs. If you are religious then sure god exists. Life after death is being in his paradise provided you deserve it. Memory of course then goes with the soul. What remains is nothing but your bones.
If not, then when you die......you die.....your memory is lost forever.......but the memory of you will live with the ones you love till they die.

I wonder why this question keeps hitting the screen from time to time! There was no life before birth; there is no life after death; If you think you are real, then God is a reality. But the fact of the matter is it is an unseen and unknown power which is present in every living thing! When the heart stops functioning the life comes to an end and everything associated with it, including brain, memory and so on, also come to a standstill!

Denying the existence of GOD is very easy .... most of us don't believe on him because we need some kind of proof .... some is about life after death .... we don't have any proof yet ....
But when we look at our history our previous generations also denied many of those concepts which we believe now ... So if someday science found a prove of it those who will be alive then will think same about us.
so when we die if there is no GOD and no Life After Death then we don't have to worry about anything .... we enjoyed our lives and death will be THE END ...
but what if we found out that the concept which we denied our whole life is true?
what if the concept of Hell and Heaven is true?
what will we say to GOD why we didn't believed him?
So like most of us follow human made laws cuz they don't want to go to jail by breaking it ... we should prepare for the situation like that too .... cuz its wise and there is no harm in it too.

God is nothing but ultimate consciousness. We are not limited by the body, our thoughts and desires prove it. Our extension can be seen in dreams when this physical world actually does not exist but a new world is created by us. As such we possess the powers of creation attributed to god.
The departments of paraphsycology in many universities are making records and research about the cases of re-birth. There are more then 1000 such cases investigated in scientific manner and details recorded. It is established that there are cases of re-births. You may read the book "Life after death "

I am convinced there is life after death for one reason: Jesus Christ died and was placed in a tomb—and two days later came back to life.
Think about it a moment: What would it take to prove to us that there is life after death? The answer is clear: Someone would have to die, and then come back to life again. It wouldn't be enough for them to have a so-called "near-death" experience; their death would have to be real. And it wouldn't be enough for only one or two people to see them; it would require many witnesses.
But has this ever happened? Yes—when Jesus Christ rose from the grave! His death was real; hard-bitten Roman guards made sure He was dead before they took Him down from the cross. And His resurrection was real also, because hundreds saw Him during the next forty days. Paul, writing over 25 years later, noted that "he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living" (1 Corinthians 15:6).
How could this happen? It happened because Jesus Christ was not just another man. He was God's only Son, sent from heaven to save us from our sins. Only He could say, "I am the resurrection and the life. ... Whoever lives and believes in me will never die" (John 11:25-26). This can be your hope, by giving your life to Christ today.
Let me assure you that the Bible teaches the life we live after we die will be real—just as real as this life, if not more so. We won't be in a state of dreamlike consciousness, but we will fully exist in body, mind and soul.
The pattern for this is Jesus Himself. When Jesus died on the cross and was laid in a tomb, His physical body was completely and absolutely dead. But He came back to life by the power of God—and when He did, He had a different type of body, without the limitations it once had. His resurrected body wasn't an illusion; it was a glorious and immortal body that was just as real as His earthly body had been.
And someday, if we know Christ, we too will be given new bodies—bodies like Christ's resurrected body. The Bible says, "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable" (1 Corinthians 15:42). Our bodies in heaven will be real, and so will our whole existence. Only in this way will we be able to serve God.
But the real question is this: Are you ready for that day? Do you know—really know—that if you were to die tonight, you would go to be with Christ in heaven forever? You can know, by confessing your sins and your need of Christ, and trusting Him alone for your salvation. Salvation is real—and it can be yours by putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ today.

Ther is no life after death .in the sense that a person or acrature that dies doe not send its spirit somewher to go and reside . Body of all creatures and beingfs are made of matter that is composed of elements .N=Matter can nee be destroyed ,. It is only changed from one to another . Matter is alsonever dead . it is alwaysbrimming with energy. This you can see for yurself now-a-days in the laboratory with the aid of electron microscope .Ordinary microscope can not help see the electrons , beause the light raysbeing longer than the lectrons they can not reflect its image .even the inanimate object like astone which apparently looks like a lifeles thing thing is actually brimming with energy and life . The atoms of the elements that , make the compound , has certain nmver oif electrons and protonms in it . the electrons ar ealways running around teh [porotons . This is happening from time immemorial . the matter in the univers e never ceased toexist and it was always ther . it is unv=born and undying .Everythig in the unioverse strted from the single atoms as the unit of thier structure . The basic atom , that os hydrogen consists of one electron and one proton. the electronis spinning around the proton so very fast in different orbits that it looks like a clound . so fast it spinns and in so many orbits it is shifting while spinning around th eproton. Ther is vacuum also int he atom and tha atom has no cover around it .It is very structure itself is wonder of wonders . When te numver of elctrons and theprotonms are increased the element changes from one troanother . hydrogen atom ecomes helium atom and thus as and when the numbers increas ethe quality and nature of the eelements change from the gas to te hardest element , metal of uranium. Thus in all the elements the basic componet is the same and only th enuber varies and this variation in nimvber aloe makes the substance a different one . what is gas is changed in to liquid and finallyinto a metl. all are essentially te same .That is the proof that all things in this universe are madeof one and thesame thing and that it is the same thing that make everything work and the same thing tha forms the life of everythig , from objects that are inanimate to all liveing beings . Thi sis th omniprsence of God that the Hindus see. This is the reason tha the hindu philosophy is alble to see god in everything and treats dust to diamiond and grass tio f gold as oen and the same thing .The combination of he various element s make te creatures and their biological reaction is the cause for the manifestation of their action.. the elements ar subject to natural decay and are continuously changing . So due to the changfes in the quality of the elements and the compounds , the lives of various creatures are determined . whenthey decay , the the comulative action of the elements and compounds in theparticular bundle of creature ceases .It is the brin that is said to be dead when am nanor acreature id ead . when the brain is alive no creature is dead , but its parts may not work fully .With the deathof the brain, thelife entinquishes like the flame of a fire. the discharge of a battery . the ligfe goes only wher the flameof the burnig lamp or te light of a burning bulb or the memoryof a hard disc on its crashing goes . This life cannot exist independently iof the matter.,becaus themater is that manifests the movement .tha ti life . the wheel of a car rotate swhen it is attachjed to the engine running . when the engine is stopped wher does the rotation goes and resides to get in to some some other wheel . this is so simple . but the ignorant philoso[phies of lefe are those conjectured by people who wer totally ignorant of any scientific basis of life and who could not even assess properly the cause of the naturl phiniomenan thay saw with their own eyes . people who tha the sun was going round the earth and killed scientists who told the truth that the earth was going round teh sun and branded them as anti bible and anti religious and anti God .Itis such intelleigent people whoohave conceived of the idea os rebirth , reincarnaion and life afer birth and raising from the dead . It is the nothig short of folly and a the figment of imagination fo ignorant menof the past that is still believed by the people who have the genes of people brainwashed over sevferal centuries .centuries . The God as portrayed b the religionms is a lie . fior if such a g'od existed the priests would nothae een able tomolest young children in the premises of the churches and sexual predators could nothave beenin tehserviceof 'god in th cv=churches and deveils in the name of religon could not have been ale to kill innocent peole in thousands . It is a fraud . if god i s one who creaed theis universe and sustains it and destroys it , it exists in all things in tehuniverse and it is unborn and undying and does notbelong to any paticular religon and does not maitnani any hell or heeaven for anybody .It has not given any whole sale distribution or stckist authority top anyone and it does not belong to any religon. No, I do not think there is life after death.
No, God is not real.
However these things help people deal with the fact that one day they will die and rot in the earth. Also it makes people behave themselves since most of them are only one step from acting like an animal anyways.
