I think it had and has corrupt people, but the Church isn't corrupt. I agree with you.

The Catholic Church STARTED as corruption. When Christianity was taken over by the government, THAT was the true origin of the Catholic Church. They created a bogus myth about Peter being the first Pope, but there is no evidence, in or out of the Bible, that he ever was in Rome! And up to the time he was supposed to have been martyred there, the Book of Acts has him in Jerusalem, and he's clearly subordinate to James, who is clearly the head of the Nazorean movement. Fact is, the Bishops of Rome were not recognized as having primacy over other Bishops until the early 5th century. They did not appoint the other Bishops, and they did not call Church Councils. They were no more important than any other Bishop and did not claim the right to pronounce doctrine binding on the whole Church. All that came AFTER Constantine made it the favored religion of the Empire.

Well I can clearly say that it has had corrupt people (some of the Popes with the Crusades, Inquisitions, Indulgences and meddlings in Politics, some Bishops and priests with the sex/pedophilia scandals and amassing of church wealth). Otherwise the Church itself (its faithful followers) and its teachings are not bad or any worse than other religious faiths/belief systems...in fact it is these teachings, more than the priests and heirarchy, that I use to follow the good and righteous path.

If humans sin and the bible is man made then the bible cannot be trusted.
on to the point of the catholic/ protestant corruption, the Vatican is hiding a lot of scrolls, papers and historical documents about things that happened and have been embellished by the catholic church. the protestants have thrown intellect out the window to keep converts in thier grasp. both protestantism and catholicism are sects of christianity and both have tried to take over the world by force.

The catholic church is not a living entity.
It is composed of people.
The people are corrupt.
The ones who are in control of it.
They have a bank. Can you imagine.
They live life styles that are absolutely marvelous.
Like kings.
Lavish.
I don't only designate this to the catholic church alone.
Governments are corrupt for the same reason.
Check out the Senators and congressmen.
You must ask yourself this question, where do they get the money to uphold this life style?
From you. OLAY!

Borja (better known by their Italian name, Borgia) was an influential Catalan-Italian family during the Renaissance. Callixtus III was a pope. His nephew Alexander VI was also a pope, known for his corruption and secularity. Alexander's illegitimate children included Cesare Borgia, a political leader described by Machiavelli in The Prince. It is also widely assumed that he had his own brother Giovanni Borgia murdered out of jealousy. Their sister, Lucrezia Borgia, married the Duke of Ferrara and was a patron of learning and art. The Borgias reportedly poisoned many people to gain political advantage and wealth for themselves. They were referred to as the first criminal family. However, a later member of this family through the murdered brother, Giovanni, was Francis Borgia, who was canonized as a saint.
need I say more?

The Roman Catholic church is so corrupt as to not warrant the title church. I am not saying that there are no Christians in it, only that those that are, are exiles in a foreign land. Until the RC “church” repents of its Christ dishonoring doctrine of salvation by works, and its other foul and errant views, it is an enemy of the gospel.

The Church itself is not corrupt. Like any large organization, a certain number of people will be. I believe the Church made a grave mistake by trying to handle the corruption internally and secretly.

The premises of the church is not corrupt. It's beliefs and values are solid. I grew up Catholic (12 years of school) and still believe in it's doctrine.
That being said a lot of what the church is based on is free will. And we have seen where that has gotten some people. So yes, I believe there are corrupt people in the church. An example is the child molestation that I do not think anyone can deny. I believe most of those priest used the church to hide their perverseness. What I think is sad and breaks my heart since I grew up in the church is to find out that those in the very highest ranks of the church knew what was going on and DID NOTHING but helped to hide it. I find it appalling and as a catholic I feel betrayed. It has made me question my church and my attendance at it has been lacking sorely. I still believe in what the church teaches but the people in the church have all but ruined it for me.

When the head encourages corruption, certainly, the other body members will be corrupt. For instance, Catholic condones wrong doing of immorality, women get pregnant b4 marriage and yet a reverend will bless the marriage however, when God created Adam and Eve, He bless them and contituted them into marriage before they (Adam & Eve) had sexual intercourse but is not like that in catholic- anythin goes. Pls Read Hebrews 13:4

I agree with most of the others answers and if you look back on old Roman history and the old Latin customs of titles and names and how they are fixed with the Roman numeral system you will find that the Pope holds the title that contain the number 666.
