God's commision to adam and eve was to 'fill' the earth (gen 1:28), as people were originally designed to live forever, logically when the earth was 'filled' god could see to it that we don't have more children, by bringing an end to the childbearing process, although this is not stated explicitly in the bible.

Whatever Jehovah's purpose is after that point has been reached the bible doesn't say.
What the bible says is that "You are opening your hand and satisfying the desire of every living thing" Ps 145:16
