This is pure theology; I’m not concerned about whether you believe in such things, since I personally don’t believe. I’m basing my question on certain Bible verses, for instance the standard interpretation of John 3:16, and the Christian assertion that Jesus offered a new covenant. What would happen if Satan accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior? Please try to answer the question and not avoid it with statements like “Satan would never do that”, etc.

Based on a little logic and the NT, Satan would be forgiven.

He would be "saved", even if it was saved from himself.

Accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is a leap of faith, and since the devil already knows there is a God and Jesus, there is no faith - only knowledge.

Angels have free will, but once they renounce Gods plan, the way the devil has, then it is to late - because they already know the plan, and the Truth - so they are rejecting the truth of God. Not a good thing to do.

The sin of Blesphemy agains the Holy Spirit is to know and hear Gods Word and still reject it. This is the only sin that is not forgiven in the Bible. This is also the sin that the devil commits when he trys to rebel against God and take over.

I like the question though

Satan's beef was with God... It was already too late by the time Christ forfilled the covenant. (Which is why Satan tried to tempt Christ away from his purpose) Angels are under a different system of judgment than humans are as they do have a bit of an advantage.

Lucifer was the anointed cherub that covered, He was a chief angel and God's favored... He knew what he was doing when he tried to overthrow the throne. He was aware of the consequences. His judgment was preordained... Most idiots believe they are going to win anyway though... like in this kind of argument for instance...

It all went as it was supposed to go... It was a book, before it went to film. (lol)

It is hard to answer this question without stating that Satan would not do that.

IF (emphasis on if) Satan were in a position to take advantage of Jesus' offer, then Jesus would accept it.

But, you are dealing with an entirely different situation than mere humans who were sold into slavery to sin and death by their forefather, Adam. You are speaking of a perfect spirit creature who rebelled against God, and incited the rebellion of other spirit creatures and humans as well.

Kind of like having apples and oranges, and wanting to make a pumpking pie.

Interesting...my first instinct would be to say that he caught God in a bit of a loophole, and would have to be saved. However...

I think it says a few places that Jesus was sent for the salvation of *mankind*, and Satan would not qualify. Jesus' role was to erase sin, which was introduced through Adam and Eve. Since Satan presumably caused that, he actually preceded the concept of sin on earth, and therefore has probably committed something even more heinous theologically. Thus, I'm guessing the Jesus loophole doesn't apply to him. He's still screwed.

I hate to say it but...."satan would never do that". Actually if you give it some deep thought it would be impossible anyway. I think most every religion (or maybe all) has the good versus evil connotation attached to it. If Satan ceased to work against the doctrines of Christ and became an ally then who would be the enemy? Who would be the evil half of the good versus evil stance? No one. With that in place, how can you continue preaching your beliefs which centers around being kind, gentle, forgiving, etc if you don't have someone (or something) to base the evil in people and of the world around it?
You get what I'm trying to say? Am I making sense here?
No good versus evil? No religion.
Besides.....who'll run hell and be in charge of the Lake of Fire and all that?

That has to be one of the best questions EVER. I don't know. On one hand I think that satan would receive salvation, but on the other hand I don't, because even though God created him, he is an angel originally, and therefore not made the same as man, so I don't think that he could do that and have it make any difference, only because he was created an angel first.

Hope that translated well. Excellent question.

There is nothing in the Bible that indicates that Satan has a soul. Without a soul, salvation isn't possible.

What I think is a more interesting aspect of this is: Since Jesus died to pay for the sins of everyone in the entire world, what would happen if Saddam Hussein accepted the Lord as his Saviour? Jesus died for him just as much as He died for you and me.

Calvinist theology [which I'm not] and the Word of God teach that some (including Satan) are condemned, with no possibility of any (future) redemption. It's really a question of what the Bible says, and it's prophetic fulfillment; to wit:

Revelation 20:10 (KJV)
And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Revelation 14:9-11

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

If Satan would accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior, Satan would be saved.

"Satan" is a Hebrew word that means 'enemy.' If by Satan you mean Lucifer, the fallen angel, then understand first that he is not a man.

Jesus came that Mankind might have Salvation, not fallen angels. Angels are a different species of Creation.

Since you stated up front that you are not a 'believer,' I won't dwell on explaining why Lucifer became a fallen angel or why Mankind requires "Salvation."

I hope this answered your question.
