I have a friend who goes to church with me. He recently told me that he's gay. He's only told two other people so far, his two sisters. And I asked him what he's going to do about church, since the people there don't approve of homosexuality. And he isn't going to go anymore.

Now, ever since he told me all this, I've been looking in the bible and talking with other Christian friends about homosexuality, and I'm pretty pissed off about the Christian attitude toward it. I don't think it's wrong, and I think he was born this way (ever since we were kids he's always been a little, uh, fruity, I'll say). So I keep asking why God would make someone this way just to label them a sinner and outsider. What kind of just and loving God is this? This situation has really got me questioning my faith, and everyone tells me to hate the sin but not the sinner. Well, I don't want to hate ANYTHING! Anyway, my buddy says he's been looking into Wicca. What is that? Does it say gay is wrong?

Knowing that alot of people on earth suffer. Is it wrong for me with an MBA in Finance, a CPA and a couple of six figures in the bank to be unhappy at the age of 32?

It could include God meeting up with Allah and the Buddha and Richard Branson to create an ultimate religion. It could also include some more fictional stories for us to laugh at!

Like seriously. I log on to this site and suddenly I see this guy using my words trying to make me look like an idiot , and then the other asking a question about something idiotic I say.

People are like quoting my words like if I were some kind of false prophet or something when in the real life I have never tried to convince anyone about God, and I am not a preacher. I never was and never will.

What people expect from others in a Religion and Spirituality section?

"Oh No I agree with everything you say 100%"

If people live with that mentality then they have no life.

I really don't CARE if you are an atheist or whatever. Live your life and do whatever you want to do, if something I said offended you then there's something wrong with you people.

If I try to care about people then it's wrong and if I don't care about them and show indifference then is wrong too.

A child is innocent in this world. "We" dragged them into this place and they have to suffer at the hands of some hideous psycho. Does the law forget about the long tortures and slow deaths of these beautiful children. I think it does. Their should be NO second chances for child abusers. If caught and convicted they do life period! You gave up your rights when you touched a child, and its more then just touched. Lives are forever ruined and families devastated. I realize this happens with other crimes too , but these atrocitys are on another level. I have a young daughter and cant stand much more of this garbage. Im tired of them being labled sick, and unable to control themselves. THe great plan of society is to ( in many cases) give them a few years in jail and let them out. Oh well, if they do it again , another child killed or damaged. That in effect is what is being said. The only way to REALLY protect our children is to get serious. Rights? Bullshit.

... does DNA influences pretty much who we are and how we live - behave, act, etc. ? In other words, is a guy agressive because he choose to or because of his DNA? Or is a girl so girly because she choose to or because of her DNA?

I am Christian but I am so sick of hearing other Christians saying that just because someone rejects God and Jesus they will go to hell. If an Atheist is a good person throughout his/her life and did not commit any major sins, why would God send them to hell? Would God send a good person to hell just because that person did not believe in him?

Also if you do celebrate Thanksgiving what do you eat? We always have both ham and turkey.

The golden rule is universal in most religions. It requires that we treat other people the way we would like to be treated: with civility and compassion. It seems like this rule is needed more today than ever.

...a deep philosophical conversation about whether it is the Italian football (soccer) team or Paris Hilton who makes our cereal soggy in the morning, was it polite to ask my father for his opinion even though I had to repeat some of the things my new friend and I had already mentioned? I'm wondering if it was appropriate to stall such a serious conversation just to get my father's opinion also...

(And no, I don't live with my parents except for about two or three weeks out of the year when I travel to visit.)

Why do bigots commonly use the Bible to justify their biases and hatreds? Throughout history, slavery, the subjegation of women, hatred of homosexuals, fear of foreigners, repression of minorities, and justification for wars have been validated by selectively quoting Bible verses that authorize the war or permit the hatred. If the Bible's message is one of love and inclusiveness, why is it so often used for exactly the opposite purpose?
