Personally, I don't think it is right for us to eat pig. I believe this because I have done my research and see what pigs eat and what we get from eating pigs. I will not condemn eating it. I'm saying that for health reasons I believe it is wrong. I did do some research in Leviticus 11 and have begun to follow a diet that follows those rules. This prohibits many animals that are consider to be tasty. I did my research in each of these and have found out that most of them are pretty dirty animals and that what they eat is what we eat. Therefore, it's pretty disgusting to see what we really eat. So to answer your question, I am a Devout Christian who refuses to eat Pig. I also believe that everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial.

Actually, Paul, and James used to argue about that all the time. James said that Paul shouldn't eat with the Gentiles because they offered up that food to idols. Paul said that it didn't matter, except if it was a stumbling block to the faith of the new Christians.

However, there were three things that Paul describes we should not do in Acts 15:28-30 - That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.

Circumcision was another one of those little details that caused a ruckus with the new Christians, and this was discussed while Jesus was still on the Earth. Jesus said that being circumcised or being uncircumcised, it didn't mean anything because what mattered was faith that was shown in love.

1 Corinthians 7:19 "Circumcision is nothing, and circumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God."

Galatians 5:6 "For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor circumcision; but faith which worketh by love."

Christianity is not a religion of restrictions (although God has given clear moral standards). In the OT time swine was considered an unclean animal and believers were instructed not to eat them. There may have also been some health considerations (as you shared) and medicine was definitely not as advanced as it is today...

In the NT God showed Peter that it wasn't what they ate- but that they were to receive the food with thankfulness because God had blessed it and given it...

As a believer i have the freedom to eat or not eat pig... although i should also consider my neighbor so if you and i were dining i would not eat pig because it would be offensive and stumbling to you...

i'm not sure why your question is directly addressed at just Christians since if you think eating pig is dirty, there are many non-Islams Christian or not who do eat pig. Man has freedom but also must recognize that he has to answer to his Maker one day.

I believe that was an Old Testament rule, but, during the New Testament, that rule was lifted. I cannot remember exactly where it was written or I would quote it for you. However, let us also remember that ALL was created by GOD FOR MANKIND! He says in the Old Testament that he made NOTHING to harm his children (man).
I realize this may not be the answer you are looking for, but there it is.
Also, you seem to be a little anti-Christian with your obvious attitude statement, 'I am glad I was born into Islam' as though YOUR religion has done NOTHING wrong and twisted with it's OWN beliefs. What say you to that? don't start throwing stones if your own house is glass!

Religion is something that should make you a better person, not tell you what you can and can not do, You are a person with a brain use it, Most of the food you put in to your mouth these days is not healthy, cows-bse, Chicken-pumped full of antibiotics, fruit and veg-sprayed with toxic pest killers, shell fish-full of chemicals.
To be honest i am sure your bit ch is not about food but Christians and the bible as a whole.
Live and let live mate, life is really to short to care about other people, just think about your self if you don't want to eat dirty pork don't, but i will carry on eating my dirty ham and cheese toasties and bacon butties coz they r tasty.

I am Christian, I don't eat pork very often, but only because it grosses me out. But Jesus said it is not what you put in your body that makes you "unclean" but what comes out of it (meaning your actions and words). I'm sure even a muslim could agree to that statement. Christians do not follow the Jewish "laws" of the old testament because they were part of the old covenant and Jesus brought about the new covenant. Jesus basically said that all these laws were put together by man and were missing the whole point of the kingdom of God. Even though I don't like pork, I do think it is just as safe to eat as any other meat (not saying much). It is considered the "other white meat" (and healthy because it is not red meat) and if cooked properly, it is safe to eat. I'm not saying you should eat it, but is this a religious issue or a personal diet issue?

On a side note, from my studies of Biology, pigs are used for organ donors for humans because of the closeness in genetic makeup. The proteins in their bodies are very similar to those found in humans, therefore it makes it very easy for viruses to cross the species barrier from pigs to humans. (It isn't likely to catch a cold from a dog, but it is from a pig, for example) When I heard this it kind of grossed me out.

A misunderstanding of Peter's dream of a banquet table (Acts 10:9-35).

Peter sees a host of animals (in his vision) that God tells him to freely eat. Peter is incredulous, because he had followed the Jewish diet his whole life, and had never eaten any "unclean" beast. He later realizes that the vision means that other races of people (not just the Jews, as some believed) were also to receive the gift of salvation. God's gifts are for everyone, in other words.

However, this has been "understood" by many...no, MOST Christians to read "it's alright to eat anything you want to eat, unclean or no." While I understand that others may read into this what they will, it seems obvious to me that this is concerning salvation, not actually changing the diet laid out in the Old Testament.

Ask them as well why do they pray Icons and Statues when it is as well forbden ( similarity to God)? Ask them why they worship Holy Trinity while it is not mentioned in Bible at all.. Ask them why they do not beleive in Mohammed and call Allah as a moon God?
They are not able to answer all these. They do not know. They live as they want and pick up from Bible only what is convenient for them to beleive. Pork is a temptation, like sex before marriage and alchogol.. They are doing both so why not to eat pork.
Have u got any really answer from any christian here on ur question?..

Are you intense? The bible is God's be conscious or in spite of and once you're asserting "properly do no longer in basic terms study that reason it won't make experience study the coed's writing too" then you fairly're asserting the bible won't make experience and you mustn't ought to study any pupil's writing's to understand the bible. The bible is meant to be the words to stay via and in case you need to further realize it with scholars writing's then you fairly be responsive to on your coronary heart the bible is organic crap.
