You have a bit of a misconception with regard to what differentiates a strong/weak atheist position.
Consider the following sentence:
I do believe that god does exist.
That sentence can be negated in two ways:
1. I DO NOT believe that god does exist.
2. I believe that god DOES NOT exist.
The first sentence expresses the WEAK atheist position, also known as the agnostic-atheist position. The second sentence represents the STRONG atheist position.
The weak atheist position is characterized by an ABSENSE of belief, brought about by the lack of evidence that would be necessary to bring about or sustain 'belief'. In this sense, the absence of belief in god is equivalent to an absence of belief in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Thor. The weak atheist (agnostic) position bears no burden of proof, since it is not asserting anything to be 'true'.
The STRONG atheist position is arrived at by a CERTAINTY that god DOES NOT exist, and implies that compelling evidence exists to support such a certainty. That being the case, it would seem that the strong atheist position DOES bear a burden of proof, since it is asserting that 'no god' is a 'true' proposition.
Intuitively, it would seem to be reasonable to acknowledge that there could be some variations or nuances between those two positions, but I don't know how to characterize them... and I don't know where the 'smug agnostic' would fit in.
I am more of a 'snotty' atheist... but I think that has more to do with my utter contempt for people who create their world view from the myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of an ignorant bunch of peripatetic Bronze Age goat herders, with no credible evidence, than it has to do with my lack of 'belief'.
I think that 'belief' itself is the culprit, since it effectively cuts off the mind from the intellectually honest (willing to question and doubt one's own presumptions)consideration of alternative possibilities.

I like DuckPhup's explanation of strong vs weak atheism.
I would like to add that atheism is always with respect to some god, because there are multiple concepts of god. So a Christian, if he believes that only the Christian God exists, and all others are fabrications, is an atheist with respect to all other religions. It is obvious though that the common usage of the word refers to all concepts of god.
Keeping both of those nuances in mind, I want to say that I'm a weak atheist when it comes to the general concept of god, and a strong atheist when it comes to all the "revealed" gods I have studied. I have found incoherency and internal contradictions in all, and so I state that these gods cannot exist in the same way that a square-circle or married-bachelor cannot exist. Logical contradictions are impossible, and so any being who possesses characteristics that are logical contradictions is equally impossible.
Make sense?

I am but then I am not. I don't believe that God made the earth in 7 days abd all that crap. I believe that we evolved here. I am proud to say that my Great Grandpa times 1,000,000,000 was a monkey. I really hate it when people come to my door to talk about their god. you know what keep your god to your self and I won't question or tell you that there is no god. If there was a god then why did 9/11 happen? If there was a god then way are we at war for something as stupid as oil. I can go on forever ifyou would like.
I am a very strong Hippie and I want peace not praise to a god who is not there.
My hubby is a strong atheists.

Even even though I have got to admit that normally I sound like a "powerful" atheist, at moments wherein I am now not so "filled with myself", I chill out and admit that, even as I will under no circumstances be given specific descriptions of God in that they're irrational and egoistic, there could also be extra to the entire argument. For illustration, might be "God" is a state of realization, a way of connectedness, a few mystical revel in that I have now not had. At those moments, I believe I am extra of a susceptible atheist. I don't desire to make the identical mistake as primary devout humans; to insist I am proper approximately anything I are not able to realize for definite. It turns out incredibly not likely that, in an international stuffed with such arbitrary cruelty and mindless ache, that there's an all-robust deity watching over and taking good care of billions of humans. However, simply when you consider that that belief of God in now not legitimate doesn't suggest they all are

Strong atheist? As opposed to an atheist who believes a little bit in God? Belief in the Lord is kind of like being pregnant; either you do or you don't. There is no partly believing in God. May He bless and keep you.

I'm an atheist. Saying that someone is a weak or strong atheist is kind of like saying you're somewhat pregnant. You either are, or you aren't.

How do you define your sentence? I am an atheist but I do not try to force others to my views as I believe in freedom of choice. So does that make me strong or weak?

I guess I qualify -- I don't believe in god, because there is no plausible reason to do so.
I do, however, *wish* there were something to it. I was a very religious child and do miss the certainty of belief. Faith, however, is a flexible mistress; It can just as easily apply to the Flying Spaghetti Monster as to the Christian god.

But God shows His anger from Heaven against all sinful, wicked people who push the truth away from themselves. For the truth about God is known to them instinctively. God has put this knowledge in their hearts. From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and the sky and all that God made. They can clearly see His invisilbe qualities - His eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God. Romans 1 verses 18-20
