Oh yes I do and were they the days of feeling rich if you got a thrupenny bit off your granddad or grandma all for yourself at a weekend and if you had a sixpence well you were loaded and could treat the whole neighbourhood kids to sweets, you put shillings in the gas and leci meters, got half a crown for doing a paper round, 5 shillings for helping the milkman on his round and I once got a whole 10 shillings for babysitting this posh couples kids for them, I loved the old money cause you always seemed to get a lot more value or maybe I was just so young I though you did, born 1956 so I was nearly 16 by the time it was phased out, but ah I remember it well.

I remember all but the farthings....I saw one once, had a wren on the back, it was lovely - would be nice to have on one of our current coins, don'tcha think?

(We've got wrens in our garden......worth more than a farthing I feel!)

Did you know that the first move towards decimalisation was in 1849; a 'florin' was introduced - inscribed 'one tenth of a pound' with the intention that it should be the first step towards the adoption of a decimal system.

We don't like to rush into things us Brits; put the kettle on; make a cup of tea; and let's talk about it - for the next 122 years or so!!

Decimilisation came in in the early '70's so we'd been to the moon before we got rid of that Babylonian based economy and moved onto something more modern (Roman!).

I remember buying the Beano for 2p in 1976 and 3 black jacks for a penny. And our rent was £2 per week.

For all of us non-Brits, would you be so kind as to define "farthing?" For that matter, what is a "quid?" How many quids are there to the pound? And "shilling." That is what?

I'm having trouble making dollars and cents about your shillings, farthings and quids. Or is it quillings, sharthings and fids? LOL!

Back to 1970 if I remember... the UK went decimal and it all changed!!

I remember 'Black Jacks' and 'Fruit Salads' being 4 for a penny (pre-decimalisation), but Farthings are a little before my time.

Well I don't remember because I was born in 1972 but the change started in 1970 and was completed in 1973? if I remember the dates rightly... I wish I did remember though because thing were a fair price before we went decimal so Ive heard.
