perhaps there is a distinction between being a prophet and being the son of God?

No, many people insult Jesus all the time. Just because you don't doesn't mean that other Muslims don't either. I personally do not insult Muslims or their faith. There is a difference in believing that they are wrong and insulting them. I am a Christian and I personally believe that the Muslim faith is wrong. However, I have many Muslim friends and I do not insult them or the prophet. I just have one question, many Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet. Yet when I explain what Jesus said to them they just say that it's OK. However, I also point out that Jesus is either the Son of God or the craziest man that had ever lived. You kind of can't take a middle road with it. No one can give me a good answer as to why they don't take one of the two sides.

Hitechmal. Islam is not the the worlds #1 relgion yet so why should christians be "ticked" about something that isnt so.
There are an estimated 33% of people in the world that claim christianity as their relgion.
Islam has 19% but is raising
To answer the question to be a christian is to strive to the ideals of Jesus and what he set down for us to do. being insultive to anyone is anti Jesus.. therefore anti christian. But he also told us that we are all sinners EVEN YOU, we are all human and less than perfect. I dont know your Prohet Muhammad, ive not studied the koran so i have nothing to mock or prove wrong, i would love to debate a Muslim (not a radical one) sometime just to see what are differences truely are. Im sure we are closer alike then some may think.
And as far as your statement goes about why is it only christians who do this.. i believe this statement to be false. There are some people on both sides who do not understand each other so they mock the others religon

Most Christians don't realize that Islam is to Christianity basically what Christianity is to Judaism. It was all a progression. After Christ was reputedly born, some Jews followed him, others did not. Essentially the same thing happened at the time of the Prophet Muhammad. I think if more people studied the origins of Islam, though they might not convert, they would likely respect it more. All three religions share the same basis.

Are you kidding me? First of all, I hate to say it, but Muslems are some of the most intollerant people on the planet! They were gonna kill that guy for becoming a Christian a few weeks ago --REMEMBER THAT???
I see this from a pretty good perspective: I think religion is a cancer on the planet, whether it's Judism, Christianity, Scientolgy or Islam. They all suck, they all brainwash people & cause violence & intollerance. Keep in mind that everybody's got blood on their hands. If somebody believes in religion in a fundamentalist way, that pretty much means that they're intollerant of any belief other than their fundamentalist religion! That's why they call it fundamenalism! I appologize on behalf of anyone who insults The Prophet, but don't gimmie that crap about Islam being a religion of peace & tolerance. There is NO RELGION OF PEACE & TOLERANCE!

Yes it is the christians. And two because they are insensitive, dumb, and just like pointing fingers to the other side. Islam is the superior religion right now, and that is why everyone is ticked off. Why was everyone ticked at Jews, back then. Muslims dont like jews because they dis obeyed Allah, but thats not why everyone else was ticked. Who ever is at the top gets the crap. Remember that saying. I feel your pain bro! We just have to stick together and pray to allah to help the world and end our missiles. The kaffir dont understand that we believe in all prophets whether it be noal, hazrath bilal, moses, jesus, or mohammad, (pbuh to all). They think we hate everyone. We dont. We just think they re infidels. What we believe is what the others believe about us. Like christians think we are infidels. Funny eh? No one should kill unless its jihad. Let god handle everyone and everything (to strong Sad).]
To all of you users- there is not exact translation of the Quran unless in Arabic. Because it was written in arabic. So all of the stuff you are reading-you are misintrepreting. And, this is WRONG, a sin. Also Im not saying there are not muslims that do disrespect the the majority does respect. If they dont its their reaction to all this crap being started by people on ISLAM. Deal with it! No one is saying crap to you like "you are a terrorist, you're bin ladens daughter, and other crap like that!". Stop all these stereotypes! Lahawlawallakoowata ila bila alyul azeem.

I was born of christian decent. And grew up in a very muslim community. I think the problem is that muslims take religion very serious. Which by all means is what your supossed to do with are faith. But more Christians pretend to take religion serious. They go to church and stuff as a status symbol. Because if they go they are free to sin the other 6 days a week. THat is why it is eaiser for christians to make fun of other faiths, as well as there own. They find humor in all things even if it is to be kept sacred.

I think limiting Jesus to a prophet rather then God in flesh as he is, is pretty insulting to Him, especially being that it says not to have any other God before Him.
Additionally, Jesus was without sin, Muhammed was a murderous pedophile that promised virgen sex to those who die in killing infidels which includes Christians. we tend to not like people out for our throats...literally
Honestly though it is the contradiction that you guys walk. You say peace and that your religion promotes it, however I have seen muslims decapating a man, Muslims are killing Jews for a land that was never theirs to begin with and they are blowing themselves up at schools and bus stations, killing innocent women and children in the name of Allah, they flew planes into the world trade center and pentigone in the name of Allah. I saw a picture of a Muslim with fists in the air crossed over eachother. One hand held the Quran, the other was a gun. That is the poster of your religion and we laugh when you say it's about peace because all records indicated otherwise.
Christians are not perfect by no means, but my point is Jesus never commanded us to kill those who don't believe and there is no contradiction within scripture. People take it out of context as they do with everything but we are certain that Jesus the Christ does not command us to cut off someone's head to release their soul.
Muhammed is ridiculed because he is a sham, a dead man just like everyone else is and will be. Jesus defeated death and came back to life. So you do the math and open your eyes to the lies that have ensnared you.

As a very lapsed Catholic I have to say that you are probably right, unfortunately. Christians have a bad habit of undermining all who do not share their beliefs, Golden Rukle nothwithstanding. True humanity means embracing all and understanding everyone's differences. That said, there will always be "bad" examples of Christians, Muslims, Jews, Zoroastrians, etc. Try not to let the negativity of some discourage you.
And peace to you.

I'm pretty sure there are Christians who insult Muhammad, Christians who don't insult him, Muslims that insult Jesus, and Muslims that don't. There are all types of every kind of person.

Wrong sir. I am also a Muslim and I have always seen Muslims insult christians. It goes both ways. I go nuts when some Muslims think they are always right and Christians are wrong. We are only human.
