I am Christian but I am so sick of hearing other Christians saying that just because someone rejects God and Jesus they will go to hell. If an Atheist is a good person throughout his/her life and did not commit any major sins, why would God send them to hell? Would God send a good person to hell just because that person did not believe in him?

I am atheist, but I ask: If god loves all his children, why would he want to torture them forever? I agree with you.

Heaven is a place for people who love God. If one does not believe in God and has not accepted His grace, then how can that one possibly be accepted into His Kingdom? It's not about what one has done or hasn't done. Man is born with a sin nature, there is nothing we can do to take that away. However, Jesus offers a "simple solution". He suffered so that man's sin nature could be "hidden", so that we could come before God. No human can cover up their sin nature. Oh sure, they can be "good people", they can convince themselves that they are "nice, unselfish, and normal". But are they not doing those kind acts with the ulterior motive of actually PROVING that they are the kind people they say they are? Man is saved by Grace alone, not their own works. Some may call this a "catch", or something of that sort, but this is not the fine print. The Grace of Jesus Christ is what the makes being a Christian possible!

There will be some good people in hell. The truth of the matter is that it is not about being good but truly accepting Christ as your Lord and Savior. For that reason, a converted murderer can believe and go to heaven. It is all about faith and again, God does things the way He wants to because He is in charge. Not accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the ultimate sin and you cannot be forgiven, it is blasphemy. This is a surprising question coming from someone who claims to be Christian. Would it be right for a good atheist who does right by everyone and is a really kind person to die and go to heaven when every day of their life, they said and believed that God was not real? Shouldn't God be upset with them? Why should they get the same benefits of eternity in heaven when they didn't do what is supposed to be done to get there?

Good works will not get you into Heaven. Accepting the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way. Jesus is God. Jesus told us that He was the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one goes to the Father except through Him. Sorry to disappoint you. Read the New Testament.

This is at the core of why I am an atheist. A Christian who tried to "save me" when I was about 12 or 13 told me that good deeds alone would not get me into the kingdom of heaven. I knew very clearly at that moment that I did not believe in a god and that I was very comfortable with my own code of ethics and morality. We have nothing to judge ourselves and others with but their behavior. What they profess to believe means nothing if it is not demonstrated in their deeds.

Heaven and hell is all right here right now. We get what we deserve of both.

Good by who's standards? God says that any sin is worthy of death, therefore any non-Jesus believer goes to Hell. As a Christian, you should know that.

... God is completely perfect and holy, absolutely holy. He is also completely just, every wrong doing must go punished. Therefore, even the slightest sin would deserve death according to this, because God sees even the slightest sin as absolutely detestable.

However, God does love everyone, and that's why he set up the sacrificial system in the Old Testament, to allow people to repent for their sins and be forgiven. Then He eventually sent Jesus down to live a perfect life, and die on the cross, to completely forgive us of our debt. All we have to do is accept Jesus as our Savior, and His perfect life will replace our sinful life. All we need to do, here on earth, is believe in Him and accept Him as our Savior.

If you don't accept Jesus... then even the smallest sin will set you apart from God. And no one is perfect, not one, aside from Jesus...

Trust me, the thought of a bunch of people going to hell doesn't appeal to me either. However, that is the very reason why Christians go out to preach the Bible and the message to everyone, to show God's love for His creations and to stop them from being isolated from God forever. That is why it's so important to go out and tell people...

It's a good question that many people have asked and struggled with. Would a moral god condemn good people to eternal torment just because they don't believe an implausible idea?

What about aboriginal peoples living in remote places in our own time who have never heard of Jesus? And what about all the hard-working, moral people who lived and died before Jesus was born?

Listen, one more time.

it takes effort to have a relationship with any god. Atheists do not have relationships with gods. Therefore, no reward offered by the diety or punishment threatened by the diety has any effect. I don't see what is so hard to understand about that. I can't play for the Yankees without signing the contract and wearing the uniform. I can't belong to a religion I do not participate in. Simple.

I've always thought it was odd that Christians believed in such an egotistical God, one almighty who still required the recognition of self-admittedly insignificant beings. If you adhere to the concepts of the message despite not recognizing the messenger or even hearing it from him in the first place, why should you be condemned?

Well unfortunately your religion says that if a person does not accept Christ as their savior, they are going to hell. End of story.

I believe heaven and hell are right here on earth and we can choose to be a part of either one depending on how we lead our lives.
