I am asking how many Catholics would sanction a female priest and how many female Catholics want to be priests? I am a female Catholic and I would personally say no way to both.

Who is supposed to pay for bride's maid and maid of honor's dresses for the wedding? My friend is getting married and she has asked that they pay for their own dresses. I don't mind but was wondering what the "proper etiquette" is?

I'm not bashing or anything, but if they are so comfortable with it and see nothing wrong with it, why do they always display stickers and flags? It's like they're asking for attention, good or bad. Straight people don't flash that they're straight.

I was just musing about how even Jesus was respectful to sinners. How come you Christians are not more like him?

Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (NKJV)
So this is saying that homosexuality is an ABOMINATION. But then in 11:9-12 it says eating shrimp is also an ABOMINATION.
9 ‘These you may eat of all that are in the water: whatever in the water has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers—that you may eat. 10 But all in the seas or in the rivers that do not have fins and scales, all that move in the water or any living thing which is in the water, they are an abomination to you. 11 They shall be an abomination to you; you shall not eat their flesh, but you shall regard their carcasses as an abomination. 12 Whatever in the water does not have fins or scales—that shall be an abomination to you.
Leviticus 11:9-12 (NKJV)

So please explain this to me, this standard of morality, where having gay sex is just as bad as eating shrimp. Does this mean, its really not that bad to be having gay sex?

Before 1990 East Germany and West Germany were seperated

West Germany had a super high crime rate and was mostly populated by Christians

East Germany had a very low crime rate and was mostly populated by Atheists

After 1990, both sides unified and when the Christians went to East Germany, the crime rate increased over night

THAT'S A FACT. DEAL WITH IT

I am a woman and happy to be feminine to try to be what I am not and was not made to be would be a slap in God's face. Why do some people think that to have value I should try to be "manly?"

Atheist: A person who doesn't believe in the existence of any deity
Atheism: the practice of such a belief

To be fair, these definitions were given by a theist not known to be too bright on yahoo answers. but are basic reason, logic, and language parsing skills so inadequately taught in today's school systems?

The whole point of this excersise is to point out once again, that we would really benefit from taking this perspective:
A different viewpoint regarding our religious beliefs should never be taken as a personal attack. A mature way of handling these times when someone disagrees, is to do as Jesus did(regarding the lost sheep), and realize that the difference of opinion is not an attack, it is a difference of opinion.
A more effective way of responding would be to do as Jesus did when being tested by satan after fasting for 40 days. He rebuked Satan, sticking to a scripural answer. And even then he did so respectfully, perhaps realizing that even Satan could turn around and attain to salvation.

Why not try to answer with respect towards peoples viewpoints.
Just like Jesus did. In that way whoever believes they are right, would in fact be following the example Jesus set for us.

Why does it take a book or belief system dating back thousands of years to make people know how to treat each other? Is it not just common sense that everyone should treat people how they would like to be treated? Religion seems to divide many more people than it brings together. I personally don't know if there is a god or not. I am curious but I also seriously doubt any religion holds the answer. I'd love to know if many people out there feel the same as me on this.

From when I was a little kid, I was raised in a family that emphasized hard work at all times. I didn't even know it at the time. During my summers as a little kid, my parents made me take summer remedial that I never needed because I was a student with good grades. When summer school was no longer available unless you failed a class, they forced me into tennis and swimming lessons. They feel I have too much free time whenever I just lay back and relax and they make plans with my vacations that I feel impolite to refuse. I just want to know is it wrong to value the time I have left after all their plans and take that time to just lay back. Even now I wish there was one vacation where I didn't hear "get off your lazy butt" or "wow you have a lot of free time". I just value my free time and want to know whether it is wrong to use that time to just lay back and relax.
