From when I was a little kid, I was raised in a family that emphasized hard work at all times. I didn't even know it at the time. During my summers as a little kid, my parents made me take summer remedial that I never needed because I was a student with good grades. When summer school was no longer available unless you failed a class, they forced me into tennis and swimming lessons. They feel I have too much free time whenever I just lay back and relax and they make plans with my vacations that I feel impolite to refuse. I just want to know is it wrong to value the time I have left after all their plans and take that time to just lay back. Even now I wish there was one vacation where I didn't hear "get off your lazy butt" or "wow you have a lot of free time". I just value my free time and want to know whether it is wrong to use that time to just lay back and relax.

Even God rested on the seventh day.
and dude, no offense, but youre not God.
Take a holiday, and if anyone asks you why you arent doing anything, tell them you are being completely productive, because resting helps you get revived for another round of work.
If they have a problem with resting themselves, it doesnt mean you have to feel guilty for wanting a little me-time.

DO IT! Thats the time the brain recharges itself so it makes the other hours even more productive. I have lived my life to where I work 5-6 hours a day at a job I love. Everythings paid on time and the freezers full of food. Parents sometimes worry that a young person will get into trouble with idle time. Someday if you're lucky you will understand this from the other side. I would try to give them some feedback about the vacations along the lines of "Thinking about writing something about this place." That's a good reason to wander around looking and just kind of goofing off. It also covers staring into space and lot's of other stuff that the brain needs. Good luck and take pity on the old folks,it sounds like they're trying their best.

No enjoy yourself, it's later than you think. Time flies by in the wink of an eye, literally. There's nothing wrong in relaxing, wasting time, and chillin out once in a while. You have the work ethic ingrained in you and when you've had enough lazing about, you will get back to being busy once again.....enjoy.......

In my opinion, everyone deserves a time to do just what they want to do even if that happens to be doing nothing.I call that having me time. Have you thought about talking to them about this. Parents are not mind readers. Believe it or not,we do care about our kids no matter what their age.If they love you as much as I think they do, they will listen to your point of view and try to work it out with you.You are lucky to have parent that care enough to get you into extra activities. You are also blessed that they have the money. When mine were younger, we sometimes couldn't afford the things like tennis lessons.Anyway, I hope you talk to them and work things out.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to sit back and do nothing. That's how I like to spend my days off work. Everyone needs a break once in a while. Do too much and you put yourself in an early grave.

I think it is quite OK to want to have that time to yourself, it gives u time to just reflect on certain issues and find various solutions to them. So in reality you are not being lazy but u r exercising ur brain in a silent manner that no one seems to hear....Just don't do it for long, because thinking too much on issues can make u go crazy ( classic example are our famous scientists)...

I think your right. Although hard work can lead to success it is good to stop and smell the roses every once in a while. If not you'll go crazy.

everybody should have some "lazy time" where you decide what you do or don't do. Maybe your parents think you will get bored if they don't fill all the time you have. Have you tried to talk to them and tell them how you feel?

It's perfectly fine to want to have some free time. In fact it's healthy, if you didn't want some free time I would be worried.
