Straight people don't need to. Straight people are in the majority, and are the universally accepted standard of sexuality. This is only part of the answer, but here goes:
Pretend you're, let's say, Irish. Now, you want to find another good Irish person to date, because anyone else you ask out will turn you down, find the situation very uncomfortable, and maybe even punch you. How do you avoid face to face confrontations while letting the world know that you're Irish, you're single, and you're interested? You wear your "Kiss me, I'm Irish" shirt, maybe even speak in an Irish brogue. It's just a way of identifying themselves to one another.

Scottg, I'd say you're WAY off. Nice try though. Anyway, it's a little harder being gay in this day and age sometimes. Some people display images of their homosexuality to show braveness and that they don't care if they're shunned or not accepted. Some gay people, however, don't do that. I'd say with all the crap that a lot of us have to go through a little sticker or something like that is nothing to worry about. We've earned it.

my conclusion on this topic is that gay people seem desperate for society, church, and all peoples approval.
my second conclusion is why is this so necessary to them if they are so secure in their choice, or do they have deep seated thoughts that make them insecure.
thirdly people are entitled to their own opinions because we have free choice and don't have to approve of anything we don't want to.
fourthly i don't see why non homosexual people should be forced to have such a one sided view of life because someone else expects them to.

Ways heteros show they are straight: hold hands, discuss their lifestyles on virtually every movie and TV show, have "baby on board" decals on their cars, file joint income taxes, the list goes on and on. You don't notice it because it is "mainstream" culture.

Not all gay people do, just those who make their sexuality what their whole identity is about.

Gay people want other gay people to know. We all need to get laid somehow.
