Then they won't go to hell, I don't think. I'd have to ask God directly to be sure, but judging from Mt 25:31-46 (where Jesus says that people who love each other and do good deeds will go to heaven whether or not they recognize them), it sure doesn't look like they'll be burning in hell.

It's not about being Christian or non Christian. Being Christian, or rather Catholic is the way that offers the most help in getting to Heaven. The Catholic faith has many helps such as the sacrament of Penance (confession with a priest who can help you understand and avoid sin), the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist (when taken in the state of grace (all sin forgiven), it offers the soul nourishment and healing, Sacramentals like Holy Water can remove venial sin (sins that are not serious). All Christians follow or should follow the ten commandments which offer a way of keeping oneself pure for God and lead one to God.

A person goes to hell of their own free will. We can choose to live a life according to God's commandments or not. If we are of a religion other than Christianity, we can attain Heaven if we do not know that Christianity is the right path but we lead an excellent life always trying to do the right thing.

Alot of people might have a different opinion on this; but if you believe what the Bible says then look at these verses:
John 14:6 (Jesus is the only way to the Father)
Romans 3:21-26 (all have sinned and all fall short, its by Gods grace only (through Jesus) that we are saved.)
If you still don't understand then pray about it and look in your Bible. You will always find the answer there.

What kind of question is that. Hey "Christian" is just a label for a branch of religion. Just because youre a non-Christian doesn't mean youre sinner, or con God. If you beleive in God and ask his forgivness and live by his teachings everyday, then you will be counted as one of those in his good graces no matter who you are. I dont' see what being a Christian has to do with being automatically counted as good person. You can be a psycho and still be called a Christian.

It is not about being the "perfect" person.. it is about admitting that you are a sinner and asking god to forgive you for the sins that you have made. Like young children.. Although most children are good hearted.. they still should confess when they have done wrong.. if they admit there shortcomings parents are not angered, they appreciate their honesty.. like children we should admit to our lord that we have done wrong,.. being a christian is not being perfect, its being forgiven. The misconception is that by being a good person one is going to go to heaven.. we can only get to heaven through jesus. The reason God sent jesus to the world and allowed him to be crucified was to be a "saccrifice" for all of us sinners so that we can live in heaven when we leave this world.. the steps to becoming a chrisitan are
say a prayer to god...
1. admit that you are a sinner
2. confess that you want to become a better person for our god
3. ask jesus to come into your heart and soul and allow you to make better decisions
4. live your life accordingly, do not do things that you know are not right just because you are forgiven..
an then my friend you are a christian!.. you are spared from hell...

Catholicism teaches that God would that all be saved, therefore God uses ordinary and extraordinary means of Salvation for Mankind.

Example: If a man, through no fault of his own, has never heard of Christ and he is a good, fair and just man, he is not necessarily lost.

Put another way, a person is lost if he deliberately turns his back on God. If a person would have nothing to do with God, what would God have to do with him? Or if a man has built his own paradise on earth, what use has he of God's Paradise?

The bible seems to say that if you are (really) a christian (you've repented, etc), then you skip judgement. Otherwise you get judgement. There wouldn't seem to be a point of a 'judgement' if all the judgments were to send someone to hell. So it sounds like it depends on the person and their life.

Whether they good Christians or good non-Christians they both still could go to Hell because God looks at the heart of man and they must believe in him and live and serve him faithfully without doubts and unbelief.
