I am asking how many Catholics would sanction a female priest and how many female Catholics want to be priests? I am a female Catholic and I would personally say no way to both.

How many of you are Catholic? If you are not then really our faith is only our business.

Not meaning to gross anyone out and with all due respect to women everywhere, so that we may put the notion to rest of a female priesthood, let us consider the following:

When a Priest consecrates the Bread and the Wine it becomes the Body and Blood of Christ. Picture a 'female priest' during a certain-time-of-month saying, 'this is my body, this is my... blood...' How does one reconcile that with the distribution of the bread and the wine?

The reason that a woman cannot be ordained a priest in the Roman Catholic Church is because the priest 'stands' in the place of Christ during the celebration of the Mass and the administration of the Holy Sacraments. Christ was a Man, period. The Catholic Church did not decree that, God did.

Why would a man want to be a nun? Then why should a woman want to be a priest? We all should thank God for our respective genders and accept gracefully and with gratitude the gender/role assigned us.

Many, but not all, denominations in Christendom allow the ordination of women. The Churches of the Orthodox Communion and the whole Catholic Church (representing the majority of all Christians) do not ordain women - following the example of Christ. Notable denominations which ordain women in the USA include Episcopalians, Presbyterians (PCUSA), Lutherans (ELCA), the United Church of Christ, the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and the United Methodist Church although there are others. Many of the same denominations ordain women throughout the world. For example, the majority of the Anglican Communion, in theory allows for the ordination of women.

In the listed denominations, ordination to priest/ minister, bishop, elder, or deacon is allowed.

In other denominations, women can be ordained to be an elder or deacon. Some denominations allow for the ordination of women for certain religious orders.

The Catholic Church, in accordance with theological tradition, and the explicit clarification of the issue found in the encyclical letter Ordinatio Sacerdotalis (1994) written by Pope John Paul II in 1994, teaches that it has no authority to ordain women, and thus female priests are an impossibility, even íf it would be considered opportune by a majority of the modern clergy.

Many Old Catholic, independent Catholic, Anglican and Lutheran denominations have divided or united around the issue of ordination of women.

Why not? The Catholic Church began removing itself from the teachings of Christ back in the 2nd Century. Go ahead. Make women priests.

You are being misled by your Church . They are using false doctrine . They call their priests father ; Matthew 23:9 Doctrine of "mental reservation" permits Catholics to lie if by so doing they can further "their" religion . (Manual of Christian doctrine , pg.444) . Exodus 20:16 , Colossians 3:9 , Ephesians 4:15 . Revelation 22:18-19 . God bless you

I would say yes to having women as priests. Why not men as nuns too? People should serve God in the best way that they can regardless of their gender.

Why not, it would be cool. When she says 'eat my body', all the guys can gloat and imagine her naked.

After all they already have the male equivalent of nuns eg the De la Salle brothers
