I was just looking for other bibles similar to the one LeVay wrote. But a little less personal about everything.

(Please no stupid comments about how I'm going to hell or that I should FIND god or anything bullshit like that.)

They are unusual looking creatures, I suppose, but I don't think I'd classify them as rip roaring hilarious example of 'god's' sense of humor. If that's his best joke, I think he could do better.

Maybe it is just a matter of taste.

In my last question I was told atheists decide to go to hell by not believing in christianity. Christians chose not to believe what the romans did and were tossed in with the lions. So they chose to be eaten. Is that suicide?

When I have never met a Christian who lives the way Jesus stated believers should live. Are they for real?Or are they just trying to make themselves feel like they have shared the word to unbelievers. Do you christians actually think we are listening to your words and not looking at your lives?!!!

For Christians: NOT preaching or arguing...just questioning a point that I find to be suspect. Would appreciate intelligent answers please (not mindless preaching).

- Chrisitianity claims that the books of the bible are God's words, written through inspiration by man (correct?).

As many of us know the books of the bible were put to paper by men, and it was men that chose which were to be included and excluded into the bible.

So with man's hands over the entire process, what is the assumption that every book is the exact word of God based on?

We all know it is a fact that religion importance and IQ are negativly correlated, such as in uneducated areas, but do you think it is religion that lowers IQ or is it a low IQ that causes the need for religion in the first place.

Generally speaking, one promotes the ethical treatment of people and the other seems to slightly encourage unethical behavior if it results in profit and doesn't break the laws of the country. I'm not saying we should change governments. I'm just pointing out a contradiction that's difficult to live with.

I'm constantly hot and my coworkers are ALL complaining of it being "freezing"...it's 75 F here. I just want it at 72-73... it's not normally a big deal but I have to wear a long sleeve dress shirt and slacks to work. The women can wear blouses, short sleeves and skirts...obviously much easier to stay cool.

10 - You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of your god.

9 - You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from lesser life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.

8 - You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Trinity god.

7 - Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" -- including women, children, and trees!

6 - You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.

I've called it "intellectual dishonesty" , because I think they know better than to do that, but will not admit it. Also, reason is, because of all the amazing facts about the Bibe, among other things. Fairytales have nothing that can compare to the Bible. The bibles history, helpfulness to people, #1 bestseller of all time, proofs of inspiration, ect.....

I haven't listened to Christian Rock in a long time, since living and working with the likes of Rez Band and Petra, but I am shocked at the state of it these days. I heard these lyrics on a popular christian song the other day, and was dumbstruck:

I wanna get down on my knees and start pleasing Jesus!
I wanna feel his salvation all over my face!
Strike us in the head with thy great rod mighty sheppard,
inject thy sheep with thy faith!

That just doesn't sound right to me, how about you?

I understand it may not be your choice and against your religion but why campaign to take away the rights of others to do as they choose? Is it not very arrogant to assume you are right and everyone else is wrong?
