They mean that you don't believe in the real God. Many believe in man made religions... paganism, gods and goddesses that we believe do not exist, but are just fallen angels decieving people into following them... Most literate Christians just say that they believe in a false religion/follow a false prophet if they are in a religion that opposes what the Word Of God states. There are many people that have a faith in something, even Pharoh's false prophets believed... When they threw their staff down (powered by witchcraft and false deities-demons) their staff became a snake also. There were false prophets all throughout history... They had some power, just enough to decieve the people... but a false prophet was never correct all the time.. Just as psychics, witches, etc. If it were the Holy Spirit that they heard they would be right all the time... The Word says not to fear those that have a wispering spirit, but at the same time, the Word says "test every spirit to see if it professes that Jesus cam and died on the cross and rose again from the dead." Test spirits to see if they profess Truth, if they do not they are not of God. If you find someone that gets prophetic words, the Word states that were "two or three prophets agree let a thing be established." Two or more prophets getting the same Word from the Lord. Also, make sure that it lines up with what the prophets have already stated in the Bible, as God is a God that changes not... His answers are always going to line up with each other.

I don't know but i also ask this question. The bible is really only just the way the people who wrote it interpreted the events that happened. If 2 people see the same thing happen they will both tell their version of what happened. Also people are always taking the bible VERY literally, and you really can't do that. People in general are not very opened minded. Just like when I tell people that I don't believe in organized religon, they automatically think that I'm a devil worshipper, when nothing could be farther from the truth. People don't hear what you say, they only hear what they want. And to all the closed minded people who believe that "God wrote the bible" give me a break. You need to read the bible if that is what you think, there is a reason that each chapter is named after a person. It seems that nobody really believes in faith and the truth within anymore. If this is what you believe don't let anyone change your opinion. you should be open minded and listen to what others have to say, but don't be pressured into believing what everyone else thinks.

Not everyone does. Just those that are close-minded. There are also Muslims that probably think if you don't believe the Koran, you don't believe in God, but not all of them. And the same is true for any religion. It is these sort of people that start war and most of the bad things that happen in the world. If we could all accept each others' beliefs and have faith in our own, we'd all be better off.
For the person that mentioned Catholics: I am Catholic and I certainly am o.k. with the fact that others have a different belief system than I do. Most of the other lay Catholics around here seem to believe the same as I do. (of course, this is Massachusetts). (Honestly, it seems to be the Fundamentalist Christians that have more of a problem with other's beliefs than Catholics do). Sure, Rome is conservative, but the American Catholics have always been more liberal. Again, not all, but some. So, try not to pigeon-hole (like I just did about the Fundamentalists - sorry!).

Hmm, the person who told you that probably was not sensitive towards your spirituality concern. God, a very universal term, is termed and considered differently by different religions. Not all religions contain the Bible; each religion has its renowned version of the Bible. For example Muslim has its Bible called the Al-Quran which is totally different from the Jewish Bible. Or a Sikh's Bible is totally opposite of a Buddhist teachings. I'm sure the person who told you that is a Christian since Christians believe that the holy word is God, hence the Bible is the holy word. Hence the Bible is holy, as holy as God. But what that person may not be getting is, not everybody in this world believe in the Bible but they do believe in God in their very own interpretations. A non-Christian may not read the Bible but that does not mean he/she does not believe in God. For them, God is a higher spiritual being Whom they depend on for spiritual strength. Somehow or rather, I believe that if someone wishes to evangelise to you using the Bible, they, first, need to understand where your spirituality level stands before quoting something from the Bible which you dont even understand or believe. I dont think that's a good start.

Because we are a new minority..To believe in God is enough for me. although I use the bible to reference my arguements.
My fave is to show people the true power of God at the onset
Gen. 1:1 is the total package of creation because God can.
Gen 1:2 is the aftermath of the war in heaven when the serpent was tossed out, because he's already in eden with the knowledge that this is his domain given by God.
Faith is faith, religion is religion, and the two never meet.

that's a thought. merely roll with it. The boat of existence has many passengers, and not too many oars. attempt to no longer rock the boat because of the fact i don't experience like swimming. to respond to your final question, no. Your clever factors will convince no person. it is going to only reaffirm the ideals of people who believe you, and type of annoy the Christians who have faith the Scriptures have been inspired via God. because of the fact the Bible says, "do no longer forged your pearls upon swine."

If you believe in God, That me and that you believe that Jesus was crucified on the Cross, for your sins. When you read the bible you learn what God did, what Jesus did, what the prophets and disciples went through.
If you do not believe in the bible then you must not believe in God. In order to believe in something, one must learn, study and have faith. That is what the bible gives us, Truth. It teaches us how to live, how to love, How to be happy through and in Christ. This question is quite hypocritical. What God do you believe in?
I think that it is important to know what the bible says. In the bible it says that we are here to spread the word of Jesus Christ to all. If you do not read the bible, Or believe what it says then how are you able to do this?

If you don't believe that the Bible is God's Word, then perhaps it would be better to say, "I believe in a god, but not the God of the Bible." This way it won't seem so confusing.

You know, asking a question like this, you've really left yourself open for a preaching! Enjoy all your answers and then read mine. Those people are only Christians, and Christians cannot pull proof of God from anywhere but the Bible. Its all they "know" and they cannot for the most part just let you have your beliefs.

That makes no sense. To believe in God is to believe in the Bible, because that is the word of God. You can't have one without the other.
