If you have cold spots and hear some banging, you might have a ghost. Talk to the ghost. Ask it why it is still here. Tell it to go to the light. You can also bless the house with some sage. You could have a preist assist the ghost in passing over.
Just make sure that the ghost is connected to the house and not to any of your stuff. If that is the case, have that stuff blessed as well.
For soem fun. try some EVP. That is where you take a tape recorder and ask questions, record, and play them back. It is real cool.

In this heat, the cold spots are a blessing! Invite the bogey to sit next to a fan so it can lower your air conditioning bills.
And the banging will at least keep the mice away (unless of course, instead of a ghost, the banging is caused by mice.)
But if you insist on determining whether or not you have a ghost, leave a bill out charging rent for the premises. If you receive payment, you have a ghost. If not, chances are you don't have a ghost, you have a teenager.

I believe there are a lot of things that cannot be explained. If you have cold spots when it's hot as hell outside, then how would a cold spot be explained? The bangings could be pipes or could not. Maybe you could get someone to come in and investigate. If it is a spirit they may be trying to communicate with you. Maybe it's a past relative that wants you to know they are okay. Good luck to you!! If you do hire someone don't pay outlandish price for them, if you do they are probably a fake. You probably don't want to play around with it, though.

There could be, or you could have an ac problem and the house could have lots of settling noises. There's a lot more issues to dealing with Ghosts than cold spots and banging. If these are all you've got you probably don't have to worry about anything.

sorry having a good chuckle here have been reading some of the answers posted to your question. Alright first of all yes there are such a things as ghosts. Second most of them are not out and about to hurt you they just havent figured out they are dead yet til someone tells them that. Third its more then alright to speak to them out loud and tell them they are to leave (by no means a guarentee they will actually go and if they dont they have something they need you to know so start paying attention to where and when the spots and banging are occuring) Most of the time when a spirit takes form its because there is something you need to know about and they want to have your complete attention. Its not really anything to panic about once you figure out what you are supposed to most of them will leave unless they are your guardian and are meant to be there.

Cold spots and bangings are an indicator of living in an old house also. Have to have more than that. Sightings for me. Nothing long nor anything dramatic. Although you will feel a rather dramatic, thrilling sensation which will hold you in a momentary movement suspension.
Another proof for me is the distant quick glimpse of movement and color.

You can go to ghoststudy.com and get tips on when the best time for activity is and photograph your home then. Electromagnetic activity is highest around a full moon phase and the best for picture taking. The site will also let you know what things to look for in said photographs. Don't have them retouched or otherwise altered. I know, my last home we were ready to bring a team in because there was so much activity going on in it. My bathroom closet seemed to be a portal of some sort according to one expert who visited my home. And the ghost seem to love my youngest, we can switch bedrooms with one another and he will always have the coldest room in the house and pictures reveal always some activity around him.

Drafts could cause the cold spots and if it's banging - it could be the water system, sewage or many other things. I wouldn't think it's a ghost until you rule out other possibilities.

It could be a ghost. Try leaving a camera on all night, recording.
Or leaving a white powdered donut on the kitchen table. See if anyone bites it.

Goats will eat about anything so if things are getting messed up you may have a goat in your house. As for the cold spots I don't know
