I'm constantly hot and my coworkers are ALL complaining of it being "freezing"...it's 75 F here. I just want it at 72-73... it's not normally a big deal but I have to wear a long sleeve dress shirt and slacks to work. The women can wear blouses, short sleeves and skirts...obviously much easier to stay cool.

No, I'm 26 and I cant remember a time when there was no air conditioning.

How about some constructive answers like have them change the dress code for males so I can wear polos or lighter clothes? Or change it so women have to wear more clothes? It's my fault for not "sucking it up" and being uncomfortable at work? Why should I be the uncomfortable one?

I thought I'd get more sensitive answers out of females, but I suppose not...

There is no legal regulation about normal office tempatures. This is OSHA's statement regarding office tempatures:

"As a general rule, office temperature and humidity are matters of human comfort. OSHA has no regulations specifically addressing temperature and humidity in an office setting. However, Section III, Chapter 2, Subsection V of the OSHA Technical Manual, "Recommendations for the Employer," provides engineering and administrative guidance to prevent or alleviate indoor air quality problems. Air treatment is defined under the engineering recommendations as, "the removal of air contaminants and/or the control of room temperature and humidity." OSHA recommends temperature control in the range of 68-76° F and humidity control in the range of 20%-60%. "

I dont really think its a male/female thing. sometimes people are just hot or cold natured. how about this, try and get you a personal fan. That should help you alot, just sitting on your desk. thay are only about $7 at walmart

but to answer your question, no there is no legal office temparure. With the exception of a hospital.

Just talk to your supervisior, tell them the problem and see if a resolution can be reached. Maybe you can be moved where you are closer to the vent and will have the air directly on you. I bet you are not the only one that feels this way.

My poor husband has to work in long sleeves, long pants, in 90 degree + heat and 75% humidity with a bug net over his head! He'd LOVE to trade places with you!

Because males have more muscle mass, they typically prefer a lower room temperature than females. Blame it on biology.
