If you had lived in Germany during the rise of the Nazi's do you think you would have been strong enough mentally or physically to deny the Nazi's and face the outcomb or would you buckle under and try to survive the best you can. Personally I think I'd be a Nazi due to being scared off being killed or tortured.

I am an Atheist. I have read and studied the bible. I have attended chruch. I have studied many different types of religion. And after all of this I made an informed and educated decision to not believe in god.

Now....why do so many believers tell me I should not be here because it is the religion/spirituality section? I can ask/answer iintelligently about religion. Why don't I have a right to have a disscusion about god?

Meaning radical Christianity and Radical Islam. Put the radicals from both sides in an open field with simitars and bows and arrows. Also, send in the radical zionists armed as David was.

Then watch the show. That would be a radical solution if I was serious. Just being sarcastic airing my disgust about any radical and destructive cause.

When human beings are at deaths door, is the reality one perceives at that moment influenced by one's individual belief system or personal wants/desires. Or, perhaps, is it influenced by both?

~~I ask this because 23 years ago, I was with my grandmother when she died. Minutes before her death she, she once again became lucid (she hadn't been for at least two weeks prior) and insisted that Robert was standing with us (my grandfather, her husband). I am not a christian now and even though I technically was then I tended not to believe anything other than the fact she missed my grandfather so much she wished to see him again.

I'm curious as to what others thoughts are on the question posed. Any welcome to answer and no, I will not judge you on your own belief system.

I mean, I know is acceptable in european cultures (Spain, France, etc.), but is it acceptable in the U.S.? If you see or know a man who wears thongs, want do you first think? If you see a man at the beach wearing 'dental floss', what comes to your head? lol

I'm firmly of the opinion that a belief is logically unjustified if it's supported by neither reason nor evidence, and faith is a "belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence", as dictionary.com says. However, religious folks sometimes claim that faith *does* constitute evidence... or at least, constitutes a valid reason to believe in something. How is this possible? Faith, to me, is a belief which has no connection with reality and is therefore self-defeating, since we could equally well have faith in both the existence *and* non-existence of a thing, with absolutely no way of knowing which was true. What's the use in that? How can faith in a thing be evidence of the very thing you have faith in? If that were so then we could wish anything at all into existence just by believing in it sincerely enough, and that is clearly nonsense.

Anyone like to have a go at clearing this up for me?

I would personally liked to live during the middle ages back when honor and chivalry ruled and one was rewarded for faithful service to his country.

My friends have two birthdays a year...their actual birthday, and there "half" birthday. Meaning that if you were born on January 1, you'd have your "half" birthday on June 1, exactly 6 months apart. I think it's kind of dumb, do you?

I'm from the Philippines with a little bit of Chinese ancestry so I have slanted eyes. People get startled when I introduce myself as Jose. If I could rename myself, it would be Tony (or some other name that's neutral to different ethnicities)

How should this threat be dealt with today and in the future? Can it ever be eliminated? What will it take for this school of thought to be erradicated from the world? Is their such a thing as peacefull co-existance with radical Islam?
