I'm from the Philippines with a little bit of Chinese ancestry so I have slanted eyes. People get startled when I introduce myself as Jose. If I could rename myself, it would be Tony (or some other name that's neutral to different ethnicities)

Jose (Spanish) is Joseph (Joe) in English. You can keep Jose, just pronounce it as Joe similar to Jim with James.

I would choose a different name, I'm sure my parents thought long and hard for a name for me, I guess its silly but feel I was disrespecting them.
