If I lived in Germany at that time - I don't think id have any other choice.. The Hitler youth would inform on anyone... so anyone trying not to be involved, would soon find themselves in a cell somewhere, waiting for the tender ministrations of the gestapo.
Its human nature to survive - its no good being dead!

I'd like to say I wouldn't, but I don't know if I'd be brave enough if I was faced with the choice of either dying or serving under Hitler. I'd definitely try to politely decline and make excuses in the hopes I could get out of it, and I'd put up as much of a struggle as possible before they started to get violent, but after that, I don't know what I'd do. I definitely think that I wouldn't be able to hurt anyone, though. Thank goodness I'm a girl and even if I were alive back then and in Germany, I probably wouldn't have to go.

I'd like to believe that no matter what they did to me I would not have chosen to become a Nazi. That I would rely on the LORD for the strength to withstand whatever they did to me. My faith is strong and has seen me through many dark times. God has given me His strength, especially when I was at my weakest points. I don't think I would buckle. I would stand up for Christ and die if that was what was necessary. I would hold fast to the fact that becoming a Nazi I would, in effect, be denying Christ and thus be condemned to hell for all eternity. Better to withstand a relatively brief period of earthly pain to gain heaven.

If my son was safe and away from it all there is no way I would just give in. I would give my life to freeing the oppressed even if I had to die because I would know that my efforts would not only be at least one step in the right direction to giving my son the best life he could have, but a better life for all the people who were wrongly persecuted. I would rather die knowing that my life meant something then live knowing that I could have made a difference. I know it is hard to say seeing as I am not in that situation but as a soldier I have volunteered to put myself in harms ways and risk being tortured for the country and values I believe in so I have to keep the mindset that I will fight at all times so when I have to, I will be ready.

you don't know the history, do you?
back then every one thought that Hitler was the saviour. HE saved Germany from the crisis, even though he did it all for the wrong course he did it/ if i was in Germany in 1920s, with no hope, knowing that the Germany has to pay reparations? knowing that France took away all the best land knowing my country was wournable and defeated with no strong leader i would take every action to help my country. and when Hitler reversed the treaty of Versailles and made the Germany strong I would follow him to my grave, i would do it for my country. Would probably disagree with his policies affecting asocials and Jews but realistically he made the Germany GERMANY.
people who dared to oppose saw the complications Hitler's external policy would make, but I would have no idea.
do u want to hear about the propaganda, about the wall street crash and the depreciation of the German money?
you should consider it
Jack K - what do u have against communism?
for your information communism is way better than the democracy -- the face of President Bush is the face of all democracy

No I would try 2 stay away.
Remember there were normal Germans who lived there and I don't think that they even knew wat was going on.
So no I would try 2 be like 1 of those people.
I would feel awful and regret it if i was a Nazi because of the things u would witness and have 2 look at every day for a long time and knowing full well that I was pretty much responible for helping in that awful killing.

Yeah, I guess people got caught up in Nazi fever. Fascism at first wasn't seen as a bad thing around the world - many "intellectuals" in Europe and America welcomed it at first, just as they welcomed communism. They saw both systems as imrpoving society and helping it to move forward. They were all in for a big shock when the commies and Nazis started killing millions of people.
I guess the only reason to be a Nazi today is that they have some REALLY cool clothes.

Would you be a Nazi?
Without a doubt. If I grew up in Germany I would have supported the Nazi's. Hell I'd probably be a Nazi If i grew up in London 1940. At the time they probably looked the better bet. I would have been kissing Hitlers **** and making his tea. You gotta back the winning team. However I probably would have found his foreign policies a little extreme.

Hitler must have said something to convince all those people to follow him, in hindsight, no nobody would claim to be a Nazi knowing of all the killings. I am sure many nice innocent people who had no idea what was actually going on were in fact Nazis.
