always at a time when I'm not going to be there. For example, a friend of mine, who's the same age as me comes to the house when I'm at work and leaves before I come home from work! Then another friend rings home at a time when they know I'm at work and now the latest, my uncle who I've not seen in 10 years, is coming down to see my mum between the hours when I'll be at work! I know that my mum gets on very well with my friends, but I am starting to wonder if people are deliberately trying to avoid me. I'm quite a shy person and not very worldly. Is this why? I do make occasional friends, but when I bring them home, my mum gets on so well with them and it seems they prefer her to me.

I'm currantly in a CATCH 22 situation and I know I can't get out of.
Why can't we leave through the same door that we used to enter through in the first place?

I've been thinking alot lately, which is the most important, building you career but you have to lose your moments with people you love the most, or just doing ordinary job but have your loved ones beside you. What will you choose?

A lot of people are offended by affirmative action in the US and employment equity in Canada. Much discrimination occurs for superificial reasons, and yet, most people don't tend to so vehemently oppose it. Affirmative action/employment equity is the only "discrimination" I have seen raise so many voices in anger. For a long time -- and even until today -- less qualified people were granted employment because of their skin colour. It was unofficial affirmative action. There wasn't much protest against that then (and there isn't now). Obviously, discrimination or gaining privileges at others' expense isn't that much of a moral issue for most folk. So, I have to ask: If affirmative action/employment equity did not disfavor Caucasians, would it be so offensive?

What makes up the 'Self'? What things go into it? We all know that many of these things change over time, but do any of them stay the same? What can a person change and still remain the same 'self'? What about our 'self' is NOT open to doubt?

Thanks

Getting to things used to mean achieving, not such to some anymore.

Is there some kind of inverse relationship between the amount of free time a person has, and is willing to waste, answering questions on Y!A, and the number of levels a person has blown through in a given amount of time? Is upward mobilitiy on Y!A directly proportional to the sophisitication of their boss's website blocking software? Have the people on level 6 seen the actual sun in the last year? Does overall typing speed increase/decrease as levels increase? Do you know more or less about things than you did before you discovered Y!A?

I mean they are strictly 100% politically correct, they don't like employees who are "different" (whether lifestyle or personality), don't have a sense of humor, never have a smile, rude on the phone even on the simplest conversations. I mean why are they so miserable and assh*les? Is this a requirement to work in HR?

Maybe if they stop being so picky in hiring especially in jobs that have high turnover no matter what they could have an easier time!!

Why are HR people such social conformist and assh*les?

If the IRA kidnapped two British Soldiers, instead of Hizbolla kidnapping two israeli soldiers and the British retaliated by bombing Dublin International Airport, all the major road, sea and rail links out of Ireland, the petrol stations and the energy plants, and then targets in residential areas, Britain would have been internationally condemned for a unilateral declaration of war and of gross breaches of International law. What makes Israel any different?
