If God were removed from society, would man create a new method to acknowledge religion?

That IS the method!! You are confused by semantics; acknowledging god is an act of religion, in the open or removed from society. You beg the question; in the true sense of the phrase.

In cultures and societies where religion has been suppressed, it has often gone underground and continued to thrive. Anthropologically, there is some evidence that religion and the belief in the supernatural is "hard-wired" into human beings. If that is so, then yes, if some dictatorial force took away every vestige of religion, the need for spiritual connection with something or Someone greater would re-emerge and manifest in ways that are probably not so different than the expressions we see today.

To be religious, it is mandatory to believe in the concept of god/s. But to believe in the concept of god/s does not necessarily mean that you are religious.

In order to answer your question: I think it would depend on the concept of god that society would adopt. There may not be a need for worship and therefore no need for a religion.

Humankind will always create whatever it perceives is needed to connect with ... become intimate with whatever it is they call "The Other", "God", "a Mystery", etc.

Man has created plenty of idols that replace god. Some people's god could be jesus or momo, or it could be money, power, sex, sadism, masochism, themselves, etc. It doesn't matter if "religion" was taken or banished from society, there will always be a god or gods that we will worship. One of the good things that usually comes from traditionally religions is that it is thought to take attention away from yourself and be more selfless than selfish...

Religious is any acknowledgment of God. Religion is only the institutionalization of people being religious.

Do away with the institutionalization's and you will still have people being religious.
