If the IRA kidnapped two British Soldiers, instead of Hizbolla kidnapping two israeli soldiers and the British retaliated by bombing Dublin International Airport, all the major road, sea and rail links out of Ireland, the petrol stations and the energy plants, and then targets in residential areas, Britain would have been internationally condemned for a unilateral declaration of war and of gross breaches of International law. What makes Israel any different?

You're question kinda makes no sense, really. That's like Israel bombing Jordan for something done by the Lebanese or Palestinians. I mean, after all, Dublin is not part of Northern Ireland. Belfast, sure. Dublin, nope. Anyway, the IRA doesn't REALLY want to destroy all of Britain and wipe it off the map. Israel has to worry about that...and no one but the US cares about them..I mean, at least this time around at least one country will care when someone tries to kill all of them again. It's Nice to know you're on your way to being a modern day Nazi sympathizer..Enjoy.

In some ways, and on the one hand, nothing.

In another way, though, and on the other hand: Israel has been attacked and attacked and attacked and attacked because some people don't want Israel in existence.

Some people believe if they react and react big then there will be incentives for the people who may have it in their power to stop or reduce the attacks to do what it takes to reduce or stop them.

Any individual who may have lived his life under even verbal attacks that come from everywhere and anywhere for no reason probably understands that stopping bullies or stopping hateful attacks isn't easy; and one of the only ways to do it is it to come back with a giant and overwhelming show of power of one sort or another.

Israel's problems are not not simple ones in this world, and I don't think drawing parallels is something that is always appropriate.

It wasn't just because of the kidnapped soldiers. Israel has been constantly assaulted by suicide bombers and rockets comming from many groups, the one you mentioned included. If that was happening here, you would want our government to do what was necessary to protect you and your family. I think the people of Israel finally just got tired of being a target.

Israel didn't start of war on Palestine, it's Palestine that did that first!!
they were bombing areas all the time, all over Israel, so taking those soldiers was the last straw for Israel, since they clearly had no intentions of returning them.

Good point!

A lot of countries did condemn Israel remember. But some, including the US, did not--in fact Bush encouraged Israel's unwarrented actions.

The reaason: hatred and bigotry. The currentadministration and what few Americans continue to support it regard Muslims with hatred--and have made it clear that, like the Nazis of WW2, they consider slaughtering Muslims, including women and children, as desirable.

So as far as these people are concerned, wha tIsrael did was okay.

When a land is given to its people by God (and He did give the land to Israel for his chosen people) it supercedes the greed of other countries.
