and how do i stop myself from getting depressed?

2007-08-19 18:52:51 · 11 answers · asked by Leigh(: 5

I'm 60, weeks or at best a couple of months away from death from pancreatic cancer. No hope for remission. Physically, emotionally and financially exhausted. Pain meds every four hours hold the pain at bay. Really hurts. Can't eat much other than bread, coffee, eggs, water and inexplicably a baked potato. Anything with fat, spices, acids, sugars etc produce spasms in the abdomen even the meds can't control.
I've considered that I will reach a point before this kills me that I will check out on my own. That I have had enough.
Am I wrong thinking this way? I'm not looking for validation or support, just informed opinion on a touchy subject to help guide me in a decision.
Thanks.

Has any man on here actually been so scared of love that they ended a relationship early with a great lady? Most people always see it as an excuse to end the relationship. I wonder if men can become so afraid that they end things thinking that the other person would hurt them. They take feelings of hurt from past relationships into the new ones and prepare for the hurt. Once they start preping for the hurt, they get scared and leave. A pre-emptive dump??? If it is true that you can be scared, would anyone who has felt this please post your reasons for doing something like this. Just curious. I wondr if it can really happen.

This guy and I like each other for 3 years. We went to college together. We both shy and afraid to be refused so we kept the feeling inside. For 2 years, we hardly talked just enjoy looking at each other from distance. Before I graduated, I told him that I was leaving. We both very sad. I miss him so much. I decided to search for him. I found his website. He wrote poetries about us. He said, he loves me and will wait for me.

I contacted him and we kept in touch as friends--He used to ask me if I want to have a long distance relationship with him. But I said, "NO" I hurt his feeling so we did not talked for 2 months. Then, I decided to talk to him again. He talked to me.

Recently, I don’t want us to be lingering so I asked him to decide whether:

1) we should wait for us to be together
2) we should move on

He said he is more than happy to be friend and very much respect me.

Why he can he choose 1 or 2? Does he still loves me?

Thank you so much for your help

Young as I may be, I've lived a fullfilling life. I've seen the world (most of it). Adventured on a whim and lived without regret or remorse.

But why, when faced with true loves loss and the mistakes that were made, do I finally feel remorse, finally regret? This last year has been tumoltuous at best, as I have been walking a higher path of discovery. I face my demons daily, and I live with my regret. My personal motto has been "It's all about the adventure", but as of late I have found that way of living childish.

Is it others I need forgiveness from?
Or in order to move on, must I do the neigh impossible and forgive myself?
Can a man, changed completely from what he was, be redeemed in the eyes of those that matter?
Or is it even their eyes that need to see it?

A mans journey is his own and must be walked alone; but was my journey started and completed for others, or for myself?

Regarding a question I asked a member responded:

''People are naturally attracted to others who are higher than them on a social level. This is biologically imprinted in us in an attempt to breed better offspring.''
Anyway, I'll bet that your not attracted to the guys hitting on you because on a social scale, they aren't as high as what you would be attracted to. On the other hand, you are more attractive to them because you are higher. So they pursue you.
But you are attracted to a "higher up" who may himself be attracted to women who are higher than him, or at the very least the same level. Since you may not be high enough on the social level that he's attracted to, he rejects you.

Is this a 'love rule'?..

When me n my ex was together, he gave me one of his pictures. That is one of the picture that he loved most and the picture was taken when he was young too. Now unintentionally, i lost it. its gone. We are now friends but not so closed. We used to hate one another and things just got better. I know it is really bad to loose something someone has given you but what should i do now if he asks for his picture back? He did ask for it once but that was just a joke. Should i tell him now that i lost it or keep it to myself and tell him only when he asks for it?

Is it possible that we have memory from the day we're born to that of our earliest known memories hidden deep in our subconscience? If so, is it possible to pull those memories from our deep subconscience?

I've always been afraid of change. I don't know why either. I moved everywhere as a child and my parents were constantly together and apart, i lived with different people all the time. So i don't know why it is such a fear now that i am older. But it prevents me from doing alot of things i want to do. Like moving somewhere, or changing jobs. The thought of the dramatic change itself intimidates me and i chicken out.
I've had to leave a job before because I wasn't moving up at all and found myself working way too many hours. It took alot of me but I got another job.
Now i have to leave my new job (been there only a year) because they are cutting hours and slowly going out of business. Then my husband comes home to tell me of this great place he wants to move to thats better and cheaper. I don't know if i will be able to carry through with this?
help!!??

I have a huge fear of bees, spiders, dark, heights, bats, mosquitos, etc. Whenever i see something like a bee, i instantly freak out. I was with my parents once and we were eating hotdogs, a bee came by and i started going insane throwing food everywhere >.<

I cant calm down!! Im like paranoid :P I see something flying, my brain automatically registers that its a bee and i freak out. Same with spiders. I always look behind my back because im so cautious.

Ahh whats wrong with me?! I need to find a way (other than listening to music on my ipod, which works) to calm down and be less stressed about it.

I mean, people always make generalizations and think that all Autistic people have the same charactaristics. They think everyone with Autism is dumb or that Autism needs to be 'cured.' It doesn't! It just needs to be understood. I actually saw a question that used Autism as an insult!! I myself am Autistic; I published a book, skipped seventh grade, and have an IQ range of 150-180. Yes, I am not the most socially connected person in this beautiful Universe, but I do have feelings. I would give just about anything to be understood. I think people should focus more on trying to LEARN about Autism, instead of trying to 'cure' it.

This has been the weekend from Hell. People who I deeply thought I could trust are showing other sides to themselves, which makes me wonder how naive I may actually be. My nature is to be honest and to trust what other people tell me. Perhaps unconditional acceptance is not a good policy. I am getting some very mixed signals and, once again, as the saying goes, "The best laid plans of mice and men.....". I am now wondering if life is just a serious of problems and disappointments and then you just get 'offed'. Any ideas??
