Oh Jonny honey I know where ur coming from (a fellow sufferer). I never have the same dream twice though but when it revolves around a member of my family it seems so real. The amount of times I wake up in a sitting position covered in sweat but shivering at the same times cant be counted. I do find if I put my bedside lamp on a timer for an hour after i go to bed that provided im asleep by the time it turns the light off i don't have a dream all night or if i do i don't remember it (so must have been good)

hope this helps honey.

First: Don't eat right before going to bed.

2. Dreams and nightmares are a manifestation of incidents that are directly related to the emotions we are having during our waking hours.

For instance: if you are feeling scared during the day, your dreams/nightmares will reflect that fear through different "pictures" when you're asleep.

Dreams are only 7-10 seconds long in reality. and its the 10 seconds before you wake up when they happen. I seems like much more while your dreaming, but its not the case.

Just make sure you aren't reading anything scary before you go to sleep, and keep the lights on if you have to.

Taking about an hour or two prior to going to sleep to clear your mind and listen to soothing sounds or music to put your mind at ease will help. Nightmares can be recollections of events in your day, or images you have seen as in a film or read in a book. It is your mind's way of making sense of what you have been exposed to. When your mind presents you with images or recollections of things that have shocked or frightened you, it is trying to make sense of things, and as we well know, the mind has its own way of working things out. Simply do not expose yourself to things that you know will cause you to have nightmares, and you should be fine.
