When me n my ex was together, he gave me one of his pictures. That is one of the picture that he loved most and the picture was taken when he was young too. Now unintentionally, i lost it. its gone. We are now friends but not so closed. We used to hate one another and things just got better. I know it is really bad to loose something someone has given you but what should i do now if he asks for his picture back? He did ask for it once but that was just a joke. Should i tell him now that i lost it or keep it to myself and tell him only when he asks for it?

Many times I've thought I'd lost something, when actually it was just misplaced and I couldn't remember what I did with it. Are you absolutely certain that it's lost? If so, I guess the only thing you can do is fess up if he asks for it. Otherwise, don't say anything unless he brings it up. He may understand, since nobody loses anything on purpose. Nothing is more frustrating to me than to lose or misplace something. Sometimes those things do turn up in the most unlikely places. One time I lost a cigarette lighter that was given to me by someone special. It was missing for three months. One day I went to the freezer to get a can of frozen orange juice, and I heard something rattling around in there. It was my long-lost lighter! Apparently, it had been put on top of the fridge, and accidentally fell in the freezer when I opened the door. I didn't remember putting it on top of the fridge. Anyway, to make a long story short, whenever something is missing, my husband and I have this private joke: "Look in the freezer"!
