For instance - It happens most of the time with me i say & mean something & people understand something else & make out something else out of it.
Today my intimate friend is not my friend anymore because of this misunderstanding.
But what ever happened was good coz i came to know that she was something & pretended to be something else.

Often i find my dreams turn into a semi-reality. Not always but sometimes. For instance I dreamed that I would find a new job in a place starting with a 'k' and then the next day, out of the hundreds of jobs I applied for, I got one in a place beginning with a 'k'. I dreamed of winning the lottery, and then played the numbers from my dream and won a significant amount (though not the whole lottery!!!). Exam results, old friends suddendly getting in touch. Every day things happen and then I suddenly rememeber that i'd dreamed it happening last night.

The dreams aren't always acurate i.e. people in my dream may not appear in reality.

Do others have experiences like this? Do you think it's a lost sixth sense? Any other ideas to explain it?

I know a 33 y/o guy who loves attracting attention and loves popularity. Like he will *act* really goofy in front of people just to get attention or chat up out of the blue with a woman walking her dog. This makes me feel uneasy. Coz I am the opposite. Why does he act this way?

Is it an insecure childhood? Or is it that they are used to too much attention in their childhood?

Have you ever been dreaming and knew you were dreaming, but for some reason could not get out of it or wake yourself up?

I have (more than once) when I was younger, but not now. I would be completely conscious of the fact that I was sleeping, but I could not get my eyes to open themselves or get myself up. It was actually a little scary and weird… I of course, eventually got up after a couple of seconds or so though. You?

One of the interesting aspects of this site is the chance we get to see something of how other people think.
Apart from genuine misunderstandings, there seems to be quite a large number of members who actually resent intelligent Q's. & A's. It is as if they really dislike anything they themselves don't fully understand .
Is this attitude in anyway useful, does it prompt them to improve themselves in anyway or do they just see it as a threat? Is it some sort of defense mechanism at work?

I worked for 18 years in Air Force as ground branch officer but could not make it to next rank for the reasons best known to my seniors. Whereas, I do qualify all my promotions exams and my seniors have been appreciating my work very often throughout my service. After this failure, feelings of anger, hurt and disappointment have crept down deep inside me with no recovery of this mental agony. I don’t have any skill to work elsewhere than a military job. Next year I would be forced to retired. This mental anguish keeps reminding me 24/7 that you are an incompetent person capable of doing nothing of any sort. At this time of turbulence in my life I am unable to fasten my seat belts. After one year, it would be a disastrous situation not only for me but for my family also. Your advice is requested how to get out of this psychological disorder and secure my future.

Did anyone see the guest on Oprah and his book about the test they gave people to see if they were unconsciously a bit racist?
The test had people sorting the words "good" on a screen to the left and "bad" to the right. It then had people sort white faces to the left and black to the right.

It then had people sort faces in a way that showed people having slightly more difficulty placing black faces on the "good" side, by reversing the direction faces would be sorted. This was supposed to expose an unconscious prejudice.
I know prejudice is a real thing, but my question is, isn't there an obvious flaw here? Didn't priming people to sort the face to one side create the slight difficulty in switching over to doing it on the other side? I want to see the results of having people sort black to the left (or "good") first, and then switch to doing white to the left.

Thoughts?

I feel like i have screwed up my life as i have somehow ended up working as a receptionist for my father when i know i could have been so much more, now all i can see myself doing is thinking for the rest of my life of where i woul dbe had i stayed in my last job overseas and hooked up with the guy i was interested in,..........i would be so happy and spend all my time imagining what iw ould be doing rather thna thinking about what i'm doing now, i cant see anything getting me back to the girl i used to be and any jobs i choose now i dont think they will ever be the same as the one i had, i cannot see anything making me better now as i have alienated all my friends and family and am not the same girl as i used i now have no energy to look for other jobs and just think about how much more i could be doing with my life. im someone that secretly hates everyone.
reason?
Ok so i become friends with someone and then they start to anoy me and im still friends with them but wish they would rot in hell because im so sick of their logics and behaviour.
This isnt the occasional person, its most people, and the only people that i seem to like without much dislike are bland.
I dont understand, like i have friends, but i get so anoyed with them 24/7. Ok i dont show i hate them but its always in my head.
Is there a diagnosis for this?
is it because im unsatisfied with my own behavior?

I've been in this "self realization" state of mind the last few weeks where I keep wondering when I'm going to figure things out. I'm just wondering what are some things out there that have happened to different people that just changed their life for the better or made them open their eyes to a whole new world....besides marriage and childbirth.

Once you have fallen into a trance, you never really wake up, partly because you don't know how to go about it in the first place; secondly, it's because you are afraid to see what has happened to you !
Yes, you most probably continue to live in a daydream, recreating past scenes to improve on the role you played in them, and looking for answers, not in REALITY, but in ever more "perfect" fantasies !
In other words, you respond hypnotically to every pressure, either to rebel, or you conform. Or you might first rebel; then, finding you lack the confidence to put up a real fight, you give in and go along to get along with the pressure still on your head and you think you have resolved your problem but in reality, NOT !
You start out one way, and end up another !.

No, I am not a "wall-flower", I am enough assertive. But I let people upset me. Often. I actully had to learn words to say like: "I find your behaviour unacceptable" and stuff like that. Still I question myself and beat myself up a lot, rather than say "screw you". Why is it so difficult? Are you the same? Is it because of an abusive childhood?

Why waste time? This has always amazed me as to how some people truly think they are getting something out of a situation like this. There are plenty of singles in this world so why bother with an individual who is already taken and has no interest in reciprocating all that lost effort? What are some of your thoughts? (Thanks God I've never experienced this however know of quite a few people who have had the unfortunate chance of going through nonsense hell like this--whew!)

I used to think that if something or someone annoys me, then it's my problem since it bothers me, not anyone else. Say, if I get annoyed, when people are slow in front of them, I will realise (sooner or later:), that I just need to chill or better plan my day so I don't hurry. My husband criticises me and tells me that I am agressive, or annoyign, or whatever. Some will say - look at yourself, perhaps, you can see what he is saying. I think that I will not be a punch bag and able to be objective and admit if I am in the wrong. So, whose problem is it? How do you know if it's you or him?
