I have a pretty bad case of obsessive compulsive disorder. I have irrational fears of being dirty, germs, intrusive thoughts, repetive and pointless hand movements (it doesn't "feel right" if I don't do certain things). Luckily I went on medication which has calmed me down a LOT and now I am a lot happier and chill in general. You sound like you just have a short attention span (commonly misdiagnosed as ADD/ADHD) and very possibly a chemical inbalance causing depression.

There are many types but the consensus is that a person who repeats an action over and over again even when the task is done, is an obsessive compulsive.
The classic example of the person who can never wash their hands clean enough.
A friend had this compulsion: She would start cleaning the house in a methodical fashion. If for some reason she was called to the phone or the door, then she would start the whole process from the beginning. There were days when she spent the whole day cleaning.

I, too, have this problem. In my little world, no one could have long fingernails. Fingernails would not be allowed to come to the end of your fingers. Same thing applies to toenails. Cut them, tear them, chew them, bite them, file them, but just get rid of them. And people's diets would be changed so that the fingernails would remain on the thin side. I absolutely cannot stand to see thick fingernails or toenails. It is very repulsive to me. And since this is my little world, although it has nothing to do with OCD, at age 30-All persons would be sterilized. If you had children before you were 30, then good, if you planned to wait...Too bad. So that any unwanted children out here might have a chance of being adopted. Hey, it's just my little world. And it would be a capital offense to harm an animal and if it were a domestic animal such as a pet, the person would get the death penalty. Hey, this is my Utopia.

I'm not a professional but if you have a neurosis that causes
a compulsive disorder i think positive thinking can re-enforce positive behavior rather than being subject to unconscious urges . the more you create positive thought patterning in your your mind the more your actions will reflect their impact .
if you seek a therapists you will best off, however your symptoms sound more along the the lines of schizoid or even schizophrenic manic depressive not obsessive compulsive and I strongly urge you to seek professional assistance .

Sounds like you are bipolar. This acounts for mood swings. OCD is a disorder that causes you to have quirks such as contant washing of hands being overly neet or having to repeat the same order of things. Hope this helps

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder. A person who has it has intrusive and unwanted thoughts and repeatedly performs tasks to get rid of the thoughts. For example, if you have it, you may fear that everything you touch is contaminated with germs, and in order to ease that fear, you repeatedly wash your hands.

They answered your question about OCD.
Your mood swings is something completely differant. They are called Labile mood swings, and sounds like your depressed. Its "ADHD" Attention deficit hyperactive disorder- is inablility to focus on one thing at a time or ability to concentrate and easily distracted.
And yes, you should check out the movie "as good as it gets"

ocd is a condition in witch a person is very unsettled with everyday things in theyre life that may seem silly to others but extremely serious to themself. im no psychologist but you are describing signs of bipolar dissorder. i had a gf that was severly bipolar and refused to take the medication that was perscribed to her. i recommend you se a dr who specializes in such matters and take their recommendation seriously and try to come up with the right solution for you and stick to it. pills are dangerous if not taken as perscribed. you may not be bipolar stop listening to uneducated opinions and seek help from a profesional.
