A few months ago, I was hospitalized with 2 very serious diseases---there is no cure for either and I was SHOCKED when the cardiologist came in and told me how seriously ill I AM... he told ME I had MAYBE 2 MONTHS to live---if I was LUCKY I could last 5 YEARS but he seriously doubted I would make it the 5 years...I have severe congestive heart failure and severe pulmonary hypertension---only about 50% of my heart is functioning properly and only 45% of my lungs and it detereorates daily... How that changed my life? Well, there is a song by Tim McGraw--Live Like you Were Dying--and that is exactly what I am doing. I am happy every morning that I WAKE UP and I treat every day as a gift... I take NOTHING for granted and take no ONE for granted. I have told those I love how I feel and have settled the score with some others.... I enjoy the little things life has to offer now and I don't worry about problems at ALL.... I laugh longer and louder, love stronger and deeper and I forgive more easily---just as that song says. It's an amazing thing to finally wake up and see what life really has to offer---it's just too bad that most of us don't realize this until it is too late... I'm glad it was NOT too late for ME yet!!!!

Working full time for almost 1.6years. My parents never made me work when I was growing up and I listened to my Mom (bad idea) about what job to get. I work 48hours per week and take home a paycheck of $768.00. I live a totally different lifestyle off of a $768 biweekly paycheck than I did when I was growing. When I was growing up, I thought money grew on trees, but I have realized that how much freedom you have is a function of how much money you earn. In other words, I usually come up $50 to $150 per month above my head per month. Within the next 5years I will need a new vehicle or I will live without transportation. I must get a better job because I hate my current job and it pays too little to save for an entry-level vehicle.

9-11 changed my life pretty dramatically.
I left my job in Charlotte, NC and moved in with my parents back in MA so I could continue my education and change careers to get into a field that would make me feel that I was doing more good. It didn't work out as I thought but I don't regret it at all. I met a lot of wonderful people along the way and learned things I never would have learned had I not done it.
You may never figure things out. But you will learn more about yourself and that's great. You should figure out what you want out of life and go for it.

I met this amazing person. I don't mean a partner! I met this woman through an acquaintance, so it was a chance meeting, and she was so bizzare, I found her fascinating. Her beliefs were odd, but her explanations made perfect sense. She looked odd, with 2 different coloured eyes & bright pink hair, and her 55 year old body covered in tattoos - one from every country she's ever visited, and she's travelled the world several times. She had about a dozen part-time jobs, all hobbies that she turned into money-making projects. She has no possessions, and doesn't care.
I suddenly stopped stressing about whether my hair looked OK, or whether I had put on a bit of weight over Christmas. Through her, I learned not to "sweat the small stuff"

I'm 31 and decided to go back to school a few years ago. It has drastically changed my life for the better and opened my eyes to the real world. My interest has been exploring more. Before, my life was taking care of kids and listening to a lot of music.

You skip marriage and childbirth but what about watching your own child grow?
The world takes on a different meaning as you discover with your child every new and amazing thing.
Nothing compares to the experience and nothing can teach you more.

Number one reason my life changed is because I realized that my life was nothing without God. I was so unhappy, angry, hateful, and so on, before I admitted that I could not go on without Him in my life. I am now more optimistic, more loving and understanding and for once in my life, I am happy! Also I have finally figured out what to do with myself as far as a career, goes. I have never been able to picture myself in any career and actually be good at it and enjoy it. Now I am most certain, that I am going to be a counselor in a High School. I believe that I can help more people that way, I will work with the students for four years at a time, students can come to me without their parents permission nor do they have to pay me. Also they can come and discuss anything with me, I am not judgemental. I have been through a lot, in my life, and nothing that any adolescent throws at me will shock me. I have done it, and seen it and can help overcome it! So find your place in life, in society find the Lord and you will have it all!

Great question! Coming to the realisation that I had been behaving like a "victim" all my life, and had wallowed in this "woe is me" mentality, changed my life for the better.
It made me realise that I do have some control over my life and my emotions, eg. be assertive when I need to, and as a result knowing that I have the *choice* to make the best of any situation.

I was waiting for life to just pass me by iwas out of my mind for about ten years. I would just bang on my computer never understanding anything about it. It usually would freeze up after two days of pounding then I would sleep for a couple of days. I got a call my grandmother who raised me died. That was my wake up call I have been clean and sober for three months no gambling no alcahol no drugs, Ive taken many computer classes and I am hanging almost every night with my kids and hanging with my parents. Since I was eighteen I had never even gone one month wihtout doing all these things It seems a computer kinda turned my life around. I know that you prabably think its worse than it really is so hang in there.

Seeing the movie The Notebook, reminded me that I forgot what love feels like, and I dumped the controlling guy I had settled for, and found someone who makes my heart skip a beat. It was life changing because I had thought that that kind of love happened only once, the first tie, and after it was different. But I was wrong. Stupid, I know, but it was a wake-up call.
