That we hate/dislike/can't get along with people who are very much like ourselves?

I think it's because we tend to see the things in the other person that we don't like about ourselves and that's difficult to deal with. Most of us try to avoid the things that we don't like about ourselves, so to be confronted by them through someone else is difficult to deal with. There are times when being with some one who's a lot like ourselves especially if it's our children can make us understand something about ourselves that we never understood or something that we didn't understand from childhood. My youngest daughter is almost a carbon copy of me and now I know why my mother and I had some of the issues that we did. There are times when talking to her is like looking in a mirror 35-36 years ago. There are times when I wonder how my mother and I didn't end up killing each other back than. Because we were so alike that we sometimes rubbed each other wrong.

Because if they are alot like you, that means when you experience with them, like talking or any thing to do with learning they are allot like you for one.
That means that you guys don't learn anything new.
For allot this stuff happens. When you meat some one alot like you that means if he says something you might want to say it differently. And one or the other will think they are better than the other. There is competition.

People that arnt alike seem to get along because they learn something new from eachother. there is always learning so there is no competition.
For Example. A soccer player and a Tenis Player will get along because each one know they are not better at that sport than the other person.
Two soccer players. Well one will think one is more superior than the other.
A Scientist. man and a Body builder. They will get along because the Body builder will learn something new and the scientist will learn something new. But the body builder knows he is not as Brain smart as the scientist and the scientist knows he is not as strong as the body builder. They would get along. They cant afford not to get along with eachother.

You mean why, for example can't two Irish red headed women who belong to the same family, get along?
Because we humans like to dominate and we can't do that to someone who is similar in strength as ourselves.

I think sometimes it is that we are forced to admit that we may behave in a manner that is unbecoming. When we have the opportunity to see ourselves as others see us, it is not only embarassing but also a little humbling. I guess it proves that a mirror is not always flattering.

I'm trying to figure that out and its true. I dont get a long with my dad and my mom says I act just like him sometimes. Oh geez, I hope not... I dont wanna be like him! Just imagine if everyone in the world was exactly like you... could you stand it? Nope. Thats why its great that everyone is different because we couldnt stand anyone is everyone was the same. I really dont think its jealously... I am definately not jealous of anyone thats just like me because if we're not different then what is there for me to want so bad. I'm trying to answer your question but thats a brain squeezer for me.

People are like magnets - opposites attract.

A quiet person likes to be with talkative people who dominate the conversation (then they can keep being quiet). Behavioral science is dotted with these sorts of examples.

jealousy....is the reason
if the person is not good like us in that field, we sometimes don't care about that person and sometimes keep all concenration on that...so the person can't be better than you
but if the person is already better than you we feel jealous....try to create problem for that person

But if we want to be a good person we should go over jealousy and rise a level to become a better person!!

They are like putting a mirror up in our face.

Who wants to look or deal with themselves, really.

When I see someone behaving just like me I get a good look at what I look like, sound like, and behave like.

The more that happens the more I feel guilty about my own behavior.

Ignorance truly is bliss.

because we demand all the credit for this personality we have molded into or become over the years;and when someone else is occupying our same moment in the universe-we get frustrated and protective of our originality...
