The truth is we never truly know how we will react in a crisis until we experience it.We would all like to say we would put the life of someone else ahead of our own but we don't honestly know.Real life heroes never think of themselves as heroes, they didn't plan the moment ,they just reacted to a situation.I think if we had the time to weigh the choices and the risks there might be fewer heroes. We all live with our choices and when we cannot summon the courage to help others it does not mean that we don't care,it just means we are human.Let's hope we are never put to the test.Take care.

You know how you would like to react, however until the situation happens you will never know. The idea of if you know the person or not never comes into play when a life threatening incident happens quickly. Only in the movies does this should I or shouldn't I happen. If you have time to analyze the situation it is probably not that life threatening to start with. Ask a fireman, the thought of losing your life to save another is not in the equation.

Nothing is absolute. There is always some chance of survival in any situation.
So, to me, one major aspect to consider is the likely probability of our own survival as we attempt to save someone else.
For me, personally, if there seems that there is only an infinitesimal chance of my survival, I would probably not attempt to save someone else.
Unless, of course, that someone else is a family member or close friend. I believe that I would attempt to save them, no matter the consequences.
There is not a definitive answer for me. In reality, we don't really know how we will respond in this situation. We can hope that we will have the right stuff to become heroes in the right situation, but sometimes harsh reality usurps our staunchest intentions.

If I'm certain that helping a person would kill me, then the only person for whom I would do that is my son. However, your question sounds like you're asking if one would suicide for another person, and personally, I don't see what good that would do for ANYBODY.
As to living my life after NOT helping a person - as far as I'm concerned, my life is worth just as much as anybody else's and maybe more than a lot of people, so no, I wouldn't have any problems going on with my life.

I hate to say that I would not save a stranger at the risk of my own life because I have small children that I would leave behind without a mother. I could not do this to my family. However, I would throw myself in front of a bus (or anything else that was needed) to save my child.

If I knew I could save the person I would, even if it meant giving my own life, I would not be able to get over letting another person die when I could have saved them.

Life is a precious gift and I want to live for as long as God allows me to stay here.
So I would have to say that it would depend on the circumstances. I would risk my life to save my bf and I would risk my life to save a child. But I'm not sure about the rest.

No. Live for yourself, you only live 1 time. Think about it why the...would you just unless you are like 60+ years old & had a full life already then I could understand, I'd do it then "for anyone"... seems like a waste of space anyways living past that age

The issue I think you're really asking is how valuable do you consider your own life.
Is it worth it to take a bullet for a stranger? No.
Is it worth it to take a bullet for a relative or close friend? Depends on who it is.
