Here's the thing...I feel as if I were meant to do great things in the world, so sometimes I feel superior to others, because I feel that I aspire to become someone with power and influence yet everyone around me is happy with their normal lives. I don't feel superior to others all the time, quite the contrary, but I feel that it would be a failure to me in life if I stopped dreaming...stiving for something better. Is this normal? Should I go see someone, because I have such...some would call it..."exaggerate expectations of myself". I even enrolled into NYU for the fall which would cost me nearly 17,000 in loans for freshman year, but I did'nt care because I felt that I could get opportunities their that I could'nt get at home. It is such a prestigious school and I thought it would help me on my so-called "path to greatness"...So does anyone have any opinions about this...is there really something wrong with me!?

I was just wondering about how our character/behaviors came to where they are today. Were we born with the or did we acquire them?

My bf's father is in rehab for drug use. His family and I are trying to convince him a couple of times to come visit with them. It seems that he took this really pretty hard and had a difficult time dealing with his anger for his dad. I know he is not ready to see his father yet (after 5 months). But I am pretty sure this will also be a form of therapy for him in a way in dealing with his anger. How can I convince my bf to go without being pushy? He is always trying to make excuses not to go. I know the other family members are now upset with him because its hard to convince him. And what is the need for my bf to be there anyway? I mean, what do they do to family members of rehab patients? Will my bf undergo therapy as well, for trauma, etc.? Tomorrow is the day they will visit his father in rehab... in time for Father's Day. :)

What happened to humans?

How did we become the power hungry, technology centered things we are today? What encouraged us to sit down and try to reveal every little, unimportant mystery of life. There is no reason to do this.

If we had not noticed a difference between animals and ourselves and had to study it, if we had not realized that we were naked and tried to cover it up, if we had not thought so much and kept our bond with nature and our animal instincts, would we not be 10x's happier as a human race than we are now?

You may say you couldn't live without your ipods, electric appliances and such to keep you entertained and livng comfortably, but if we didn't have any of it EVER you sure wouldn't miss it. You would be content living with nothing but the music of nature and playing tag.

We don't need money, electricity or material items of any sort. So... where did all this come from? Why do we need it? I don't know. Neither do you.

Who agrees/disagrees? Why?

this memory came to me from over 12 years ago. i never even thought about it. well it just popped in my head. it wasnt something i actually did but it was something i was seriously going to do and the reason why i didnt do it isnt for a good reason. now i know i wouldnt do it. but i think it says a lot about the person that i was and maybe the person that i am today. i just want to forget it and it is bothering me. But how?

The great end of education is to discipline rather than to furnish the mind; to train it to the use of its own powers, rather than fill it with the accumulation of others.

A good, decent, honest and safe man, and a man through and through. He just seems to gravitate naturally to married women even over dating. He does befriend the husbands also but is invariably closer to the women. He is not letchy at all, never crosses boundaries and yes, he is straight.

p.s. He's 46 and never married

Why do so many people use Yahoo q/a to vent anger and spread negativity, instead of either giving a good answer if they know one,or just keeping quiet if they dont?
I am really concerned to see so many disturbed people who are allowed to interact"unchecked"with people who truly are in need of good advice,,especially the teens who look to us for example.....I do see some good people and answers to though.

This morning I was dreaming about my grandmother, it was like we were driving in a car my mom, sister and myself and we saw her standing outside just on the road as we drove by...creepy thing is..my grandmother is dead. She died last year. Then I knew that I was dreaming I was aware of my surroundings so I tried to come out of my sleep because I knew that I was dreaming but I felt like a very heavy weight like someone was on me. I could not breathe, hardly move or scream at all. I was so frightened. I could feel someones arm and someone was talking to me but I don't remember what they were saying to me. I have heard before from friends that this has happened to them before. Please no dumb responses. Has anyone experienced this before?? ...or does anyone know what is going on?

A psychologist once told me she knew of a psychological quality called "somatic identification" wherein a person can so identify or empathize with another, he/she can actually take on their physiological characteristics. EX. Supposedly, when Robert DeNiro played a man who had been in a coma for 40 years and woke up (in the movie 'Awakenings') a psychologist took his vital signs (B.P, pulse, etc., eyesight) and supposedly they matched the real life person his character was based on. It is supposedly more common in actors and writers for obvious reasons. I am an actor and did an acting exercise where I was 10-years-old in camp and writing a letter to my mother. Afterwards, I looked at what I wrote and the handwriting and vocabulary had changed in ways that resembled how I was then (without my consciously trying) I have also heard and believe (since I have ADHD) that people with ADD or ADHD are more likely to have it. Does anyone know of this 'ability' or something similar to it?

I know why I fear them. It's because I can't see their true faces. It's not like a mask, you can rip one of those off...usually. But with grease paint, you cant just wipe it away in 1 or 2 swipes. I've been this way all my life and I inevidably passed it to 1 of my children without him having any knowledge of my fear. Also, does anyone know a way to overcome this fear? Just facing them doesn't work for me I've tried that and I almost killed myself trying to get away!...LOL

I was on my way to an application and possible interview for a job; when this sexy gal, wearing sun glasses, entered the bus. She seemed lost in her own thoughts, but I am not sure, since her glasses were very dark. Before I left the bus, I noticed a subtle tease, everytime she turnt her head. Anyway, when I left I couldn't help looking at her, even though eye-contact is impossible in that circumstance and she seemed glad for it. Later, crossing the street, the bus turns to the right after me; and I realize someone is watching me from behind -still don't know how- and turning my head I see her waving me cheerfully through the bus window..

I thought of 2 alternatives : she mocked; or she meant she'd like us to meet next day, same time, same place; which is very common where I come from. So, next day I decided to "include" thet route in my schedule; and she didn't take the bus that day. Therefore, there was no point in what she did

Moral : Never trust any girl born in this country ?
