They get so passionate talking about the grandness of the male species that I wonder if they follow through with their beliefs in their personal lives and exclusively seek homosexual relationships. If men are so much better at everything, why waste your time with a woman?

Or society is, anyway.

I remember a few months back, someone posted up a link to some 60s ads which showed women being the stereotypical housewife, obedient to their husbands and family, and the general outrage many Yahoo users expressed.

Now, I've found a link to some similar 60s ads, but the message is ... slightly different.

http://images.google.com.au/imgres?imgurl=http://www.stickergiant.com/Merchant2/imgs/125/y8139_125.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.stickergiant.com/page/sg/PROD/magfunmen/y7812&h=100&w=125&sz=5&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=QNeEtXecEdOjLM:&tbnh=72&tbnw=90&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmen%2Bare%2Blike%2Btoilets%26svnum%3D10%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG

And let me just say - I'm not a feminist. But I couldn't help noticing the parodies these ads make of the originals.

Your thoughts?

My mum thinks that a girl should know how to cook. I am 16 and my brother is 18. She tells me to get his dinner ready when he is perfectly capable. I say that I just don't enjoy cooking and she says 'well you can't do the gardening, but your brother can do both'. She has never made my brother stand in the kitchen ever because she can't 'make a boy do such girly work'. She is really sexist and says both genders 'have their separate duties' and 'you're a woman so you should know how to do a woman's duty'. I mean WTF?

Women, how do you feel when men refer to you as "female"?
I, personally, find this offesive. I'm not a female, girl, gal, or any other condesending term. Just curious.

According to Amnesty International violence against women and girls is today's "most pervasive human rights challenge".

General Kofi Annan said: "violence against women is global in reach, and takes place in all societies and cultures."

Statistics show that in some South American countries 23 percent or 1 in 4 women suffer from domestic violence.

The Council of Europe estimates that 1 in 4 European women suffers domestic violence in her lifetime.
In England and Wales an average of two women a week die at the hands of a current or former partner.

In India fear is a constant companion and rape may be faced around any corner day or night.

Where has feminism helped?
Is it time to see this stratagy falls short?

I have noticed this phrase is only applied to men on here, so I guess the question is, at what age is a man expected to have moved out of his parents' house?

Just wondering how many feminists here are able to whip up yummy and nutritious dinners and who also do the house-cleaning?
Is it still an important skill to have in your opinion? Do you find that there is a negative assumption nowadays from men saying that women, let alone feminists, just don't have these skills anymore?
I do most, if not all of the cooking and cleaning myself. Home-cooked meals just about every night, was taught to cook from a very young age. And I know how to keep a clean house and don't hire a housekeeper.
What about you?

I'm always seeing guys say women shouldn't be cops or firefighters, etc.. Maybe some women aren't cut out to do physical work, but some men aren't either! So what about:

I've noticed many younger (and even middle aged) women who can't really be independent. Like my cousin who has to be driven back and forth to work everyday and shopping because she doesn't have it together enough to buy a reliable car. She has turned down may other people's offer for help (i.e. become a roomate, or get a boyfriend) 'cuz she says she wants to be "independent". Meanwhile she causes massive inconvenience to her family. What is going on here? Any suggestions? She might as well be living in her parents basement since she's living off them anyways......

Men are not always running things. Its the womens' choice to do it. How is it degrading them? It's not like sex is something most women don't have during their whole life.Just like on shows people kiss. Why isn't kissing degrading to women. People have sex too. That's why some late night shows show intimacy to that extent.

Why is it that people are being so damn hard on her? All that im hearing on yahoo answers is that she is as slutty as britney and that really pisses me off. She got pregnant oh my god she isn't the first sixteen year old to get pregnant why is it that people have to be so horrible about it. She is doing the responsible thing by coming out and taking responsibility for what she did. No she shouldn't be a rolemodel for young girls but does that give people the right to judge her. What are your thoughs on the whole Jamie lynn thing. I wonder why girls have abortions could this be it they don't want to be looked at like Jamie lynn spears is?
