Surely if you love someone you don't need a contract. It's not a ring and piece of paper that keeps people together - as can be seen by the high rates of divorce.

I can understand the reasons for it though - tradition, the idea of being symbolically attached to someone, a public celebration, tax breaks etc. Certainly, if I meet a girl and we want to start a family, I'd be happy to oblige in marrying her if that was important to HER. Personally, it doesn't matter to me - it's the relationship itself that counts.

I'm only asking in this section because I fear being preached at if I ask it somewhere else. I'm not interested in biblical reasons or "one man, one woman" or any of that bollocks. If marriage IS to mean anything then it can't be as an exclusive, heterosexual club.

I mean seriously, do you ladies want some fugly anti-feminist slob that only wants you to work in the kitchen and be submissive to him? That's a "real man" there, isn't it?

Or do you want a sensitive, caring guy that doesn't mind doing the dishes and cuddling when its starts thundering outside.

I know other guys don;t like macho men cause they try to beat us up all the time. I think they're jealous. But after all, guys have an Y and an X chromosone. Shouldn't we embrace our "feminine" side and not be so caught up about being manly?

I want to make absolutely sure I have some good evidence of the general feminist approach to gender.

This question is relatively simple: Is gender more of a result of biology or socialization?

All answers are welcome. No flaming, please.

I refer to something comprised of feminism and masculism that challenges problems faced by both women and men while allowing gender roles to exist.

The younger posters on this board seem to basically support a movement that would actually stress equality and not just the supposed "oppression" of one sex while ignoring the other.

Feminism can't possibly do this by itself, and masculism simply isn't well established or united. If they work together and have a more open viewpoint, they might be able to accomplish something.

In any event, do you believe there is hope for a united humanist (feminist+masculist) movement?

I mean seriosusly, what's with all this "being feminine" crap. I think if a girl wants to play sports or be agressive, then that's fine. Why does everyone think a girl like that has a mental problem or somethin? Granted, I do think women should wear feminine clothes so they don't look ugly like most men. Guys should dress nicely too. I love it when my girlfreind dresses me up in the metrosexual clothes we bought in South Korea last year. I look pretty cool in them.

How come men don't like to cook? I cook for my gf whenever she's sick or at work. I'm actually better at cleaning the house, too. Hmm....isn;'t that strnage? I thought women were supposed to be good housewives. That's bullsh*t.

I'm so glad me and my gf are "freaks" Too bad the rest of American society isn't so binded by their gender and can be happy like us.

That they are trying to say that it restricts women from getting late term abortions without any regard for a woman's 'need' or 'health issues'...? .Are you aware that the ban only prohibits the gruesome acts associated with delivering the baby's body and then killing it before the head is delivered? And did you know that it is NEVER EVER more physically safe or medically necessary for a woman to have that form of an abortion that to give live birth to the baby? It is all a big lie to make people think they are losing their choice to kill their children - when they are only loosing their option to have a doctor brutally murder the child while it is half-born....and they can still kill the kid full term by burning it to death with a chemical abortion and deliver a still born.....did you know that?

I have heard that attractive women make approximately ten times what unattractive women do. Why is this? Is it fair? How can we change it?
