I turned her down, of course, and never spoke to her again. Before that occurrence, I thought of her as a really nice lady. First impressions are obviously not always accurate.

There is no official figures. However, I have the same feeling as elletera because I have known this woman who is 56 for 8 years until I guess, it was time for her to work up her courage. I guess male escorts are not so openly available and furthemore, there is social stigma to consider. As a result, they only dare to approach people they feel they can trust even if they are rejected (not to reveal). Afterall, woman are also human beings with a physical needs.

If you wanted a vague idea I suggest you go to your nearest city and see how many male escort agencies there are there. It won't be very accurate, but it's simple supply and demand. I think more gay men use male escorts than females with around 50% of male prositiutes being homosexual (I've been studying sexualties just recently, but evidentally not well enough to cite studies . . .)
I'm not sure it would be that hard cos it's a lot easier for women to find casual sex in clubs than men so wouldn't have to pay for it. . .

I have never seen any numbers representing the % of women who hire male prostitutes to have sex with. I can see the advantage of doing that though. It eliminates the possibility of a messy emotional scenario taking place. As well, it makes possible the ability for her to have a favourite. It's no different than a male using the services of a female prostitute. Sex relieves tension.

i grew up thinking that everyone was bisexual. i don't know why i assumed that... i guess because i liked girls too i thought that everyone liked both sexes, just one more than the other. like that kinsey test thing. i've realized that a lot of people don't say they're bisexual. i'm still not sure if i believe it's because they aren't or because they just don't want to talk about it. i mean, if you know that you like one sex more... what's the point of saying you like both? in relationships you can usually only have one at a time anyways... i feel no need to correct people that assume i'm straight because i'm in a straight relationship. monogamy means i can only be with my boyfriend anyway.

The only thing that I have heard is that it is more likely to happen when they are older (50+) but the percentage that actually hires them is not known.
