And Man knows it! Knows, moreover, that the Woman that God gave him
Must command but may not govern -- shall enthral but not enslave him.
And She knows, because She warns him, and Her instincts never fail,
That the Female of Her Species is more deadly than the Male.

Quote from an article linked below: "In Jordan, Falak Jamaani won her seat in parliament without relying on the quota system that reserves six seats for women. Activists say her victory is an important milestone of women's gradual inroads to political representation."

Are you as surprised as I am that they have a quota that reserves seats in the parliament for women? The article says the quota was a gift from the king. How cool is that? He must be a pretty progressive guy.

the other side. Since a "believer" always infers one who believes without reason, who can object to this position?

You know, those naturally bony girls.

Why do many of them (NOT all of them) seem more driven, competitive, less touchy-feely than other people? Sometimes they can seem kind of mean, but they're Type A people who know what they want.

Does anyone else notice that, and if so, why might that be? Could body types be LOOSELY correlated with personality?

Kind of like Jaslene from America's Next Top Model, but everyone I knew who was that skinny seemed to have "that" personality.

I was watching Star Jones today on Court TV & she was commenting on the recent Nebraska shooting tragedy. She was disccusing this tragedy with a Psychologist . Star and the Psychologist indicated that apparently the shooter who commited this horrible act did so in order to become " famous ".---Star when on to state that some girls seek attention & notoriety in another way today and they " get drunk & flash their panties to become famous "--I don't think she was trying to be funny or talking about an isolated incident. She seemed to be talking about some kind of trend.--Maybe I sound old-fashioned; but is there really some sort of a new trend for girls to get drunk & flash their panties ? ----I realize that this question is probably going to generate some off-the -wall answers---but I guess I find this alleged trend a little hard to believe ? I am not making this up----I wonder if anyone else saw Star Jones on Court TV today - THANKS

Specifically in the Gender & Women's Studies forum. I mean, other people's opinions have no bearing whatsoever on any of our lives. It's just entertainment really - to see how we can get a rise out of each other.

Why should I care if some random guy I don't know thinks I should stfu and go cook and clean?

i dont see it this way.

to me it seems that judging or looking down upon someone for sleeping around is only counterproductive. women immediately jump to the conclusion that a prostitute or an "easy" woman is someone who has issues or has no self respect or no self esteem. when in reality most of them just like to have sex and have some fun.

the way i see it the only one who has self esteem issues are the feminists and the "liberated" women who go out of there way to repress those desires that the "easy " women embrace simply because it is seen as wrong, dirty etc. and in turn make themselves the "Strong women" because they wont let jsut anyone sleep with them. (as if they are so important than only the deserving deserve them)

does anyone else agree?

Here is an example: proposed legislation that will never be passed. By displaying such histrionic behavior over a non-problem they only discredit themselves, lol. When, if ever, will they 'get it'?

Serious question for serious answers only please. There are stereotypes that LARGE women are grotesque & have low self-esteem but that isn't always true. This question is in reference to those LARGE women who doesn't have esteem or hygiene issues. It's for the plus size woman who is well put together. So, why are some smaller women intimidated by the well put together plus size woman? Is it because that stereotype has been proven wrong? Or because the small woman have self-esteem issues herself?

I'm trying to right a story about a newspaper boy, and need to know the value of a shilling and what amount of money he might take for selling a paper. So what is the value of a shilling compared to a Us dollar today, and how much might he have sold a paper for in that time period?

how would a system like that work? like the old times when they traded food or clothes. would that be better than dealing with all the credit and debt of using money? or what other thing could we do to fix the money issue? it causes so much greed...
