The "Trickle Down" explanation which showed Capitalism to be beneficial to the poor was famously proposed by David Stockman, Ronald Reagan's Budget Director, in 2004. It evolved into, or was a simplified explanation of what is called "Supply-Side Economics", which still has its champions, among them Standard Oil. Hope you're enjoying the benefits their success and generosity brings to you! Googling any of these will provide of wealth of articles for you to choose from.

You might also look up Marie Antoinette, who a few hundred years earlier proposed the same economic "solution" by saying "Let Them Eat Cake", during the French Revolution. Poor thing, she wasn't recognized as the forebearer of a great idea and was beheaded for being ahead of her time. Sad to say, the principle still hasn't worked out too well, but they're still working on it real hard.

It seems Marx, who spoke the antithesis, may well have been right. He predicted that a time would come as a result of Capitalists' inherent greed, where eventually all resources would end up in an elite's hands. He theorized that when that condition arrived, so that the working class (not to mention the poor) could no longer adequately feed and house themselves, the result would be armed revolution. I think if you're betting, it'd be wiser to put your money on him. But good luck with your project. Playing the devil's advocate can provide a good education.

Yeah talk about the "trickle down effect" which is basically, as the rich get richer, they are likely to feel more charitable and then this will benefit the poor. Capitalism also gives people the chance to work and become entrepreneurs. Capitalism is fantastic for motivation - once someone knows they are basically screwed if they dont work - they will stop claiming unemployment benefits and start to work. This not only benefits the poor but the whole economy and economic growth. Try these websites:

They are mainly for GCSE/A-level standard.
Hope this helps. :)

Here is a graph of world income and population over time.
http://www.visualizingeconomics.com/2007/11/21/last-2000-of-growth-in-world-income-and-population-revised/

Compare before and after capitalism. Everybody use to be poor but now only some people are and the fraction of poor people is decreasing. The people who are still poor capitalism has not been good for, but it has for everybody else.

if capitalism is the same as;
the right to work, free markets,
and each person having the right to negotiate
with others for the value of their goods and services.
then capitalism is good for the poor.

our economy also has socialistic and monopolistic components that actually create the poor.

socialist government policies that tax the working class, to give to the rich and poor, but really just creates more poor people.

monopolistic government sanctioned markets and industries that exclude real competition and fix prices.

government deficit spending that steals from the working class and gives indirectly to the rich.

Get rich quick schemes in the capitalist business world, (buyouts, IPOs, conglomerates, acquisitions, mergers, and the stock market), do not actually work. Remaining solvent does not actually exist within false economics capitalism.

Profit existing in the capitalist business world, or millionaires existing within capitalism, is pathological deception committed by the 21 organizations spying on the population with plain clothes agents, (with covert fake names and fake backgrounds).

Actual economics is the persons paying the monthly business loan payments of companies voting at work in order to control the property they are paying for.

Capitalism is the psychology of imaginary parents, false economics, and the criminal deception of employees that are paying the bills (including the stocks and bonds, or shares) of companies.

Anti-democracy republicanism is the psychology of imaginary parents, and false government.

In capitalism, the poor are those who don't want to work or those who are unable to work.

In socialist economies, everyone is poor(to our standards).

Of course, most economies are mixed economies and don't adhere to extremism.

To actually find an article... maybe search for 'Benefits-Capitalism-poor' or something similar.

No.

This is one of the biggest weaknesses of capitalism - the huge weakness in the wealth gap.

To be poor in a captialist society means little sympathy from society for you, sadly.
