What are some plausible ways in which the issue of Income Inequality in the US can be eliminated (to an extent)? ex. Should the tax system be altered, how so?, can this problem be solved through the negative tax, workfare, or cash transfer programs?

We (US) are the biggest drain of resources so what is our policy on population control? I know that China has one but they have had the highest growth of consumption.

thanks

I am new to "Answers". I think "Answers" has only been operating for a little over a year. One of "Answers" top contributors is Judas Rabbi (or something like that). He has already got 300,000 or more "points" and a "Best Answer" score of about 5%

Given that you get an "average" of (say) 3 points per answer (and that might be a little excessive - because he obviously didn't score too many "10-pointers"), it means that he has answered (about) 100,000 questions in 365 days (I think his profile says he started with "Answers" in April 2006). That would be 100 questions a day EVERY day for a year. I've tried to emulate that figure in the last two weeks - and it takes me the best part of a whole day, just to go through 80-odd questions. So, would Judas Rabbi be otherwise unemployed? Would he be obsessive/compulsive with his computer? Does he go and actually talk to REAL people? Does he put in "one word" answers? What motivates a person to do this? Does he have a real life?

I want to make absolutely sure I have some good evidence of the general feminist approach to gender.

This question is relatively simple: Is gender more of a result of biology or socialization?

All answers are welcome. No flaming, please.

This one friend of mine always says that I am self centered and oblivious. While oblivious may be true, I have never seen myself as self-centered. I always try to help people but a lot of times I don't know what to do, so I stay quiet, hoping they will ask for something. If I tell them I don't know what to do they say it is because I am oblivious to everything around me. I don't try to let it float over my head, I'm just a little naive at times. I admit that. I just don't understand why she doesn't see that I try to help and a lot of time when I do succeed in seeing a problem and know what to do, she gets angry. I truly care about this person but I've just about had enough.

I refer to something comprised of feminism and masculism that challenges problems faced by both women and men while allowing gender roles to exist.

The younger posters on this board seem to basically support a movement that would actually stress equality and not just the supposed "oppression" of one sex while ignoring the other.

Feminism can't possibly do this by itself, and masculism simply isn't well established or united. If they work together and have a more open viewpoint, they might be able to accomplish something.

In any event, do you believe there is hope for a united humanist (feminist+masculist) movement?

I mean seriosusly, what's with all this "being feminine" crap. I think if a girl wants to play sports or be agressive, then that's fine. Why does everyone think a girl like that has a mental problem or somethin? Granted, I do think women should wear feminine clothes so they don't look ugly like most men. Guys should dress nicely too. I love it when my girlfreind dresses me up in the metrosexual clothes we bought in South Korea last year. I look pretty cool in them.

How come men don't like to cook? I cook for my gf whenever she's sick or at work. I'm actually better at cleaning the house, too. Hmm....isn;'t that strnage? I thought women were supposed to be good housewives. That's bullsh*t.

I'm so glad me and my gf are "freaks" Too bad the rest of American society isn't so binded by their gender and can be happy like us.

Thinking of nice things right before bed doesn't always work so I asked myself whether there are any ways to influence my dreams. My friend told me to stop watching tv in bed, would that make any difference?

The abuse doesn't stop. We have been divorced a very long time. I am still always suprised at his behavior. It is easy to say that I continue to give him power. If you know what a sociopath is like, you would know it isn't easy to start a new life because......well I don't know how to explain it. It is insane.

That they are trying to say that it restricts women from getting late term abortions without any regard for a woman's 'need' or 'health issues'...? .Are you aware that the ban only prohibits the gruesome acts associated with delivering the baby's body and then killing it before the head is delivered? And did you know that it is NEVER EVER more physically safe or medically necessary for a woman to have that form of an abortion that to give live birth to the baby? It is all a big lie to make people think they are losing their choice to kill their children - when they are only loosing their option to have a doctor brutally murder the child while it is half-born....and they can still kill the kid full term by burning it to death with a chemical abortion and deliver a still born.....did you know that?

I recently read a study where two groups of people were asked to deliver electric shocks to a stranger they couldn't see. One group had been drinking and the other hadn't. The group that had been drinking went up to a higher level of electricity (or so they thought)

Does anyone have any idea who first conducted this experiment or who has written about it? I can't find it again and have been on so many sites and read so many journals it will take me forever to find it again!

Thanks in advance

After I found out my friend was related to someone who you can check out my last posts to see, she told me that she wishes there were no laws in place currently to protect ill people from being the subject of scientific experimentation. SHe claims there would be many more cures, and if 5 died now, you may save 100 in the future. She says that wouldn't be a big deal then. She works in medical research at a hospital and is going to be a clinician as well within a couple of years. How do I get her to see that is crazy? How do you rationalize with someone like that?

I'm always telling the people that I work with that I don't want to go out with them - cause I don't.
I have to spend 6 to 8 hours a day with them - I"d like my free time to myself to do what I'd like to do.
They always seem to get their feelings hurt - I don't mean that I don't ike them - I just don't want to spend my free time feeling like I'm still at work.
