What are some plausible ways in which the issue of Income Inequality in the US can be eliminated (to an extent)? ex. Should the tax system be altered, how so?, can this problem be solved through the negative tax, workfare, or cash transfer programs?

I did not mean income inequality should be eliminated, as I understand that it is highly needed in a capitalistic society and competition is key! If you look closely… I said the “Issue”, meaning the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer… it’s not right for 20% of the population to control almost half of the total GDP… perhaps “income inequality” is not the greatest title!
