I've had many bad experiences in my past. I was raped by a boy named Shane. Now everytime I come into contact with a person called 'Shane' I become withdrawn and scared.

Even though I've never met this person, I become prejudice purely on their name.

How can I stop this? It's unfair for all those innocent people named Shane.

I don't see the point in stress. Why, it causes an aching heart, mind, body and soul. What is the point in that?? I have come to the understanding that nothing is worth worrying about. We should see the positive in any negative. See the fun in whatever you can, even if there is'nt any. There's no point in dwellin on thing's either, you can't change the past but you can make a better future if you want it be. Stress suck's. Being happy rule's!! I just think, being happy is the answer to most thing's, end of story. Your opinion's please, and be as honest as you can!!!!

My brother is 14, and I am 17.

My parents were divorced just after he was born. Now we live with my Mother.

My mum has always pushed me to do my best in school, at times to hard. But it's made me a stronger person and definitly more mature.

My brother doesn't have this pressure. He goes to school, gets into trouble, wastes peoples time and never gets into trouble for it!

At home he is so rude. He never listens to my mum. He doesn't do his share around the house either.

Lately it's just become too much! He purposly gets my puppy hyperactive and she is begining to bite a lot more.

I tell him to stop it but he doesn't listen.

My Mum never does anything to try and control him.

I can see him dropping out of school with no qulifications and having no other skills.

I also feel like I am parenting him a lot of the time.

Please, any suggestion would be great!?

30 now, long list of failures behind me, love life, career, social life, would be friends, etc... Has anyone out there left it all behind and started over fresh somewhere new? (I know the B. Banzi "Where ever you go, there you are." bit.)
Short of packing whatever I truly need in my beater car and just leaving one day, does anyone have advice on how I can do this and have at least a CHANCE of succeeding at starting fresh? I’m going to need a job to survive, a place to live (to well, live.), and some means of creating a social network. I know that at this point in my life I’m prolly up a creek friend wise, but hey, its not like I’m surrounded by great folks now. Bloody pack of jackals at best.
If you have done it, or know anyone with no past to speak of who might be able to help, or even know of a place to start looking, I’d greatly appreciate any input you could give me.

What I mean is, even back in the "caveman" days did people feel embarrassment? Or, like boredom, was it something that was created with modern civilization? If it's instinctive, what survival purpose did it serve? If it was created, when and how was it created?

Was there romance in the proverbial "caveman" days? If so, how has it changed and what was its (evolutionary/psychological) purpose? How has it changed? If not, where did it come from?

What is the fundamental motivation for humans to reproduce outside of instinct?

Lonliness? Possibly something forced upon us by society since we were young children? The need to feel needed?

What do you think?

My period has been way off lately (i posted a question about it and the responses i got were that it's due to stress) and I asked my boyfriend if he thinks I'm under stress and he said yes. I was out of a job for a little while, I'm a behind in school, and my family is disapproving of my interracial relationship with my boyfriend (whom I love more than life itself and will not leave him), which in turn has strained my relationship with my family. I'm often scared that I'll lose my boyfriend, which I think is a factor in my "stress". I always thought stress was for busy people (e.g. single parents who have to work double jobs to make ends meet). I don't believe I'm under stress, but if it's affecting my body and my boyfriend even tells me, then it may be it. I just think I'm being a drama queen but I can't solve it.

I need to move out (I love my family and all, but I just need to not live with them, that's all), but it's not possible right now. I can't sit with my family and...

My boyfriend and I were in homeroom together taking a test. I got up to go to the restroom and when I came back everyone was done. He was laying on the table when I came back so I went over and gave him a kiss. I turned around and his ex-girlfriend, who left him for another girl (true), appologized for causing problems between us. He sat down at one desk and she sat down at another one that was facing him. My friend Stephanie sat down on his leg. Playfully, I said, "Oh I see how it is," and put my arm around his ex-girlfriend. Then my friend Stephanie and his ex went somewhere else and I sat in his lap. We were sitting there for a few minutes when someone called him from the other side of the classroom and he told me he would be right back. He never came back. He sat on the other side of the classroom for the rest of the day like he was mad at me or something. When the bell rang we were walking outside to the bus when I asked him what was wrong but he kept walking ahead of me.

3 Part Answer.

~ Is there a God, Yes or No? ~

If yes:

A. Why do you think so?

B. Is there some sort of compelling text (direct quote) to back it up?

C. Was there a time in your life when you didn't?

If no:

A. Why do you think not?

B. Is there some sort of proof or data to support your answer?

C. Was there a time in your life that you did believe?

Please don't judge me for asking. Please answer each part, (A-B-C.) I think we can all benefit from knowing what motivates people in this area and enable more current rebuttals for another time. So in other words be nice, it's a survey, tell me your story.

PS. to ensure that this doesn't get personal I won’t choose a best answer, I am however going to leave it up to the voters. I encourage you all to keep checking in on this question for when it does go "in voting," cast your votes.

Not targeting a specific religion. Only questioning the motivation to follow or not to follow a religion.
